Privacy Policy — Is This a Scam?

Is This a Scam? AI Checker (“the app”) is built to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain terms, exactly what the app does and does not do with your data. By default, everything stays on your device, there is no account, and we do not collect your documents.

What we collect

By default, nothing. The app has no account and no sign-in. It contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not collect personal information or device identifiers, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

On-device analysis

When you paste text or choose a photo or screenshot, the app reads and analyzes it directly on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device text recognition and on-device language models. That content is processed locally to produce the result and is not transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Optional Enhanced cloud check

The app includes an optional feature called Enhanced cloud check, which is OFF by default. You can turn it on in Settings, and the app shows a clear confirmation before it is enabled.

While it is on, the text of each check you run is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server at isthisscam.app, which uses Google’s Gemini API to analyze the text and return a result. The text is used only to produce that single result; our server does not store or log it. Google processes the text as a service provider, subject to Google’s terms. Images are never sent — only text. You can turn this feature off at any time, and when it is off, nothing leaves your device.

History (stored only on your device)

If you keep a history of your checks, a short text preview and the result are saved only on your device. This data is excluded from iCloud and device backups, is never uploaded to us, and you can clear it or turn it off at any time in Settings — or remove it entirely by deleting the app.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. Apple may provide us with aggregate, non-identifying sales information.

Children

The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Your control

Because the app works on your device, you stay in control: leave Enhanced cloud check off to keep everything local, clear or disable history whenever you like, and uninstall the app to remove all on-device data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date above reflects the latest version.
