Freelance Billable is built to be private by design. This policy explains what the extension stores and what it never does.

What we store

Everything you enter in the extension is saved only in your browser, using chrome.storage.local on your own device:

  • Client names, email addresses, billing addresses, hourly rates, currencies, tax rates, payment terms and late-fee rules you configure
  • Projects, budgets and hourly-rate overrides
  • Time entries and timer state
  • Invoices you create (line items, totals, notes, statuses)
  • Your business profile (name, email, address, logo) and app settings

What we never do

  • Nothing leaves your device. The extension makes zero network calls — no servers, no syncing, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no ads.
  • We never sell, share, rent or disclose your data to anyone, for any purpose — including advertising or credit-worthiness checks.
  • There is no account system and no sign-up; we have no way to identify you and no copy of your data.

On first run the extension shows a prominent disclosure explaining the above and requires your explicit “I agree” before any data is stored. You can review this policy any time from the dashboard (Settings → Privacy).

Your control

  • Export a backup of all your data as JSON at any time (Settings → Your data → Export backup).
  • Delete everything permanently with “Delete all my data” in Settings. This wipes clients, time entries, invoices and settings from the device.
  • Uninstalling the extension also removes all data stored by it.

Permissions and why they exist

  • storage — keeps your data on your device.
  • alarms — runs budget and overdue-invoice checks in the background.
  • notifications — shows the timer, budget and overdue alerts you asked for.
  • idle — notices when you step away with the timer running so idle time can be removed.

None of these permissions are used to collect, transmit or monetize data.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices ever change, the new practices will be disclosed prominently inside the product before they take effect.
