Privacy Policy — Free Teleprompter
Free TeleprompterEffective date: 1 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application Free Teleprompter ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you install and use it on your iOS or Android device. We take privacy seriously: the App is designed to work entirely on your device and to operate without collecting personal information about you.
By installing or using the App you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please uninstall the App.
1. About the App
Free Teleprompter is a teleprompter utility that displays text you provide so that you can read it on camera or in front of an audience. The App is free, has no advertising, no in-app purchases, and works fully offline. It does not require any account, login, or sign-up.
2. Summary (Short Version)
We do not collect, store, transmit or share any personal information about you. Everything you type, paste or import into the App is stored locally on your device and remains under your control. We have no servers receiving your data, no analytics, no advertising SDKs and no third-party trackers.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or process any of the following:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, address).
- Device identifiers (IDFA, advertising IDs, device fingerprints).
- Location data (precise or approximate).
- Contacts, calendars, photos, microphone audio or camera images.
- Usage analytics, click tracking, screen recordings or heatmaps.
- Crash reports or diagnostic logs sent to us or to any third party.
- IP addresses or network metadata on our servers — we operate no servers.
- Information from cookies, web beacons or similar technologies.
4. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
To make the App work, certain data is stored on your device using the operating system's standard local storage. This data never leaves your device under our control. It includes:
- Scripts you create, including their title and body text.
- Teleprompter settings you choose (speed, font size, line spacing, alignment, colors, mirror, rotation, countdown).
- Your selected default theme and other in-app preferences.
This data is removed automatically by the operating system when you delete the App, or when you clear the App's data through device settings. We have no ability to access, recover or transmit this information.
5. Permissions the App May Request
The App requests permissions only when strictly necessary for a feature you actively use. You can deny any permission and continue using the rest of the App.
- Files / Documents: requested only if you tap to import a plain-text (.txt) file as a script. The file content is read into the App's local storage. The original file is not modified, copied or transmitted.
- Mail composer: triggered only when you tap "Contact us" in Settings. This opens your device's default mail application with our support address pre-filled. We do not receive any message until you choose to send one.
- Open external links: triggered only when you tap the "Letterly" card in Settings or the link to this Policy. The link opens in your device's App Store, Google Play or default browser.
The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, calendar, location, health data or any other sensitive system resource.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The App does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, SDK tracking, fingerprinting, tracking pixels, session replay or any equivalent technology. There is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is collected.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
The Settings screen contains a card that links to Letterly, a separate voice-to-text application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Letterly is a different product operated by an unaffiliated company; we do not share data with them. When you tap the card, your operating system opens the App Store or Google Play, after which the privacy practices of that store and of Letterly apply. We have no control over them and recommend you consult their respective privacy policies.
We do not embed any other third-party SDKs, ad networks, analytics providers, social media buttons or trackers in the App.
8. How We Use Information
Because we do not collect any personal information, we have no information to use, share, sell, rent, license or otherwise process. The App functions purely as an offline utility.
9. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we note that because we do not collect or process personal data, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions on lawful basis, data subject rights and international transfers do not give rise to obligations on our side in connection with your use of the App.
Should this change in the future (for example, if we add an optional account feature), we will update this Policy and clearly inform users before any collection begins.
10. Your Rights
Even though we hold no data about you, you retain the following rights under applicable privacy laws (such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act, CCPA):
- Right to know what personal information is being collected (answer: none).
- Right of access to your personal information (answer: there is none to access).
- Right to rectification of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — you can fully remove all locally stored data by deleting the App.
- Right to restrict or object to processing.
- Right to data portability — your scripts are plain text within the App; you can export them by selecting and copying the text.
- Right not to be subject to discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.
We do not sell or "share" personal information within the meaning of the CCPA or any similar U.S. state privacy law, because there is no personal information collected.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including users under the age of 13 (or under 16 in some EEA countries). The App contains no behavioral advertising, no third-party data sharing and no profile creation. If you are a parent or guardian and have any concerns, please contact us at the address below.
The App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not directing collection at children and by not collecting personal information from any user.
12. Data Security
All data the App creates is stored within the App's sandboxed storage area provided by your operating system. Modern versions of iOS and Android encrypt this storage at rest using the device's hardware security features. We do not transmit any data over a network, which eliminates the most common channels of data exposure (man-in-the-middle attacks, server breaches, supply-chain data leaks).
No system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a secure unlock method (PIN, passcode, biometrics).
13. Data Retention
Local data is retained for as long as you keep the App installed and the data has not been deleted. You can remove individual scripts inside the App, or remove all data by uninstalling the App or clearing its storage in your device settings.
14. International Data Transfers
We do not transfer data internationally because we do not collect data. Any optional interaction with third parties (such as opening Apple App Store, Google Play or your mail application) is handled directly between your device and those third parties under their respective terms.
15. Automated Decision-Making
The App does not perform any automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our App, to new features, or to changes in applicable law. We will indicate the new effective date at the top of this Policy. Material changes will also be communicated through the App's update notes on the App Store and Google Play. Continued use of the App after a Policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
17. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your privacy in relation to the App, you can contact us by tapping "Contact us" inside the App's Settings screen, which will open your mail application with our support address pre-filled.
We aim to respond to genuine privacy inquiries within 30 days, in line with GDPR requirements.
18. Jurisdiction
The App is developed by an individual sole proprietor based in Spain. Any disputes regarding this Privacy Policy shall be governed by the applicable laws of Spain and the European Union, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence.
