2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may collect the following categories of information.

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account or subscription information (via Apple):
  • The App itself does not create a separate Decibel Check user account. However, when you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store, Apple may share with us limited information related to your purchase (such as an anonymous identifier, product ID, and subscription status) to enable us to provide subscription features. We do notreceive your full payment details (such as full credit card number) from Apple.
  • Support communications:
  • If you contact us by email or otherwise, we may collect your email address, your name (if provided), and the contents of your message.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we may automatically collect certain information, where enabled and where permitted by law:

  • Device and usage information:

  • Device model, operating system version
  • App version
  • Language and region settings
  • Anonymous identifiers for analytics (e.g., IDFA/IDFV or similar, depending on your settings)
  • Log data (e.g., timestamps, in-app actions, error logs, crashes)
  • Approximate location (if applicable):
  • We may collect approximate location derived from your device or network, if needed for analytics or to provide region-specific functionality. We do not collect precise GPS location unless specifically stated and required for a feature and you grant permission.
  • Audio / microphone data (for decibel measurement):
  • To provide noise or decibel measurement functionality, the App may access the microphone input of your device.

  • Audio is generally processed on your device for measurement purposes.
  • We do not record or store your audio recordings on our servers unless explicitly stated and consented to in the App.
  • We do not use microphone data to identify you or to profile you.

You can disable microphone access at any time via your device settings. However, certain features of the App may not function without microphone access.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

  • App Store / Apple:
  • We receive purchase and subscription status information from Apple (e.g., whether you have an active subscription, billing country, subscription expiration date). This is used to provide and manage your premium features.
  • Analytics / crash reporting providers (if used):
  • We may use third-party services (such as Apple’s own analytics or other providers) to help us understand usage and improve the App. These providers may collect anonymized or pseudonymized data such as device identifiers, app interactions, and crash logs, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
