.aix Manager ("the Extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome that provides a floating panel on MIT App Inventor pages to help users browse, organize, and open the local folders of .aix extension files.
- Data Collection
The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, user data, or browsing data with the developer or any third party. All operations run entirely on the user's local device.
- Local Helper Server
The Extension communicates with a local helper server that the user runs on their own machine at http://127.0.0.1:8765. This server is a Python script provided separately by the developer. It is the only component with access to the user's file system. It performs the following tasks only when the user interacts with the Extension:
- Scans a folder that the user has explicitly configured, and returns the list of .aix files it contains.
- Opens the native file explorer in the folder of a selected .aix file.
- Stores and retrieves the user's list of favorite .aix files.
No data is ever sent to remote servers. All communication happens over the loopback address 127.0.0.1, which is not accessible from the internet.
- Local Storage
The Extension uses the browser's localStorage API to store:
- The user's theme preference (light or dark).
- The position of the floating panel on the screen.
- The collapsed/expanded state of the panel and its sections.
This data never leaves the user's browser.
- Permissions
- Host permission for https://.appinventor.mit.edu/: Required to run the Extension exclusively on MIT App Inventor pages.
- Host permission for http://127.0.0.1:8765/*: Required to communicate with the local helper server running on the user's own machine.
- Third Parties
The Extension does not send any data to third parties. It does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising services.
- Changes to This Policy
Any future changes to this policy will be reflected on this page.
