Privacy Policy - Background Tab Link Opener
Effective Date: 2026-05-16
This Privacy Policy describes how the "Background Tab Link Opener" Chrome Extension ("the Extension") collects, uses, and shares your data.
1. Data Collection and Usage The Extension is designed to operate entirely locally on your device. It does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, browsing history, or analytics data with the developer or any third parties.
2. Permissions Justification The Extension requires the following permissions to function correctly:
tabs: Required to create a new tab in the background when you click a link.
<all_urls> (or host permissions): Required to inject the script that listens for your left-clicks on any webpage you visit. This script only reads the URL of the clicked link locally and passes it to the background script to open the tab. It does not send this URL anywhere else.
storage: Required to save your preference (ON or OFF toggle) locally on your device.
3. Data Retention Because the Extension does not collect any user data on external servers, there is no data retention policy to enforce. Your preferences are stored locally in your browser and are deleted if you uninstall the Extension.
4. Contact If you have any questions or concerns regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact the developer via the Chrome Web Store support page.
