Principal Gene Vagina is the principal of Harry Herpson High School. He is voiced by Phil Hendrie. Principal Vagina had his first major role in the episode, "Get Schwifty", where he denied Christianity because of how all of the giant heads were clearly seen, watching over them all. He believed that these were gods and that humans should worship them religiously and made "Headism" the true religion. He became the leader of the entire religion which many people joined including Summer and her boyfriend Ethan. However, the people started going against him when they misinterpreted the head's announcement believing they had 'disqualified' him. They saved the people he was condemning and overthrew him, tying him to a bunch of balloons and sending him away so that he may come back as a reincarnated baby. After realizing the giant heads had nothing to do with a new religion, his former followers remarked that they needed to get him down.

In the Rick and Morty series, we see multiple interactions with Morty's school Principal. His name is Principal Vagina. After he introduces himself, he says, "no relation" afterwards. Why? What joke am I missing? I thought he might be referring to the school name but if so, I'm not getting it.
What's the joke here, or what does he mean when he says it?
The joke is that the Principal is saying his name has "no relation" to the body part. He is constantly attempting to clarify that his last name is "not a joke" and that it's a real, "possibly Scandanavian" last name.
When people who have the same (or similar) name as someone famous introduce themselves, they will often get questions as to whether they're related. Think if an American was named Richard Clinton, or Travis Trump.
After a while they will anticipate these questions, and as part of their self-introduction just state flat-out that they aren't related to that famous person it sounds like they are related to. Just to avoid having to be asked: "Hi, my name is Richard Clinton. And before you ask, no, I'm not related to Bill." This can be shortened to "No relation."
This is what the principal is doing. Only instead of a famous person, it's a body part.
I always understood it as a reference to "not being a pussy".
Thus he is saying his name is not a reference to his character.
It could also be a nod to Die Hard's Agent Johnson and Special Agent Johnson .
AJ: I'm Agent Johnson
AJ: And this is Special Agent Johnson
AJ: ... No relation
The joke there is they have the same surname but they're clearly of different ethnicity.
But in relation to Rick and Morty, Johnson is American slang for penis.
To me, having grown up with a TV in the 90's (for good reason: moved to USA for learning the language and culture), this phrase was an instant reference to Tiny Toon Adventures cartoon series, where two major characters - Buster and Babs Bunny (sometimes with Bugs Bunny in the loop) - always introduced themselves with a "No relation!" disclaimer.

Is this a stand-alone joke or a tip-of-the-cap to the AWESOME Uncle Rukus? The first time I heard him say this, I assumed it was a nod to the Boondocks and Uncle Rukus, but now I don't think it is. What do you guys think?
I don't watch boondocks but I just found this really funny because realistically, someone would say "no relation" when they're name is identical to a popular person. But the principal has a name that's not a name of a popular person but a "popular" body part. So it's kind of like personifying vaginas. So the principal is naive enough to believe that people would actually believe he may be related to a vagina, in the same way people would believe someone's related to a celebrity. It seems like just a silly joke, but I don't watch boondocks so I couldn't say.
my partner and I had this discussion and come up with 2 answers either its a shout to Uncle Rukus and Boondocks or its just a gag for when principal vagina talks to any adult female he says hes not a relation of their vagina.
Where is the reference? How does Principal Vagina connect to the Boondocks? I love the Boondocks but I haven't sat down and watched the whole series.
