“PYT” is the sixth consecutive top 10 single from Jackson’s blockbuster album Thriller . It also found varying levels of success overseas .
Producer Quincy Jones heard Jackson’s demo and liked the song title , but not the song itself. So Jones enlisted James Ingram to write what became the “PYT” we all know in place of Jackson’s original.
I was 16 and in between my first two records. Michael was recording [1982’s] Thriller . He invited me to the studio where he was about to sing “P.Y.T.” and asked me to help out on background vocals. Since we had been singing together forever, I knew it’d be easy. I jumped at the chance. I loved being one of the P.Y.T.’s and was especially proud — I hope this doesn’t sound like bragging — that when the record was mixed, my single background voice was the one featured. I can’t tell you how good that made me feel.
“P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” was certified 4x platinum by the RIAA on August 29, 2022.

Best friends and freshmen Frida and Selma quickly become friends with another first-year student Nadja. When Frida catches feelings for Nadja’s older boyfriend Emil and is invited to the ritual party for first-year students but Selma is not, their friendship starts to fall apart.
Written by award-winning scriptwriter Line Mørkeby ( When the Dust Settles ) and directed by Tilde Harkamp ( Hunting Season ), Pretty Young Thing delves into the Danish high school tradition of freshman dinners, where third-year boys ask first-year girls to boozy dinner parties, and explores party culture, sexualisation and youth's search for identity.
