One of my favorite scenes where Port Mafia went all out on Verlaine in CODE;4. I like this part because it introduced a lot of Port Mafia’s skill users that have never appeared in both the manga and the other novels. It was so fun to read.
Dazai made some interesting statements and theories here too. I like the dialogue at the end, where he kinda slipped and let out some of his real emotions.
PS: I can’t believe I actually typed out 5000 words! I was drafting this on my phone so I didn’t notice the actual amount of words. I know it’s not gonna be perfect and I am gonna make mistakes and I will want to punch myself so much but gosh, I am so proud of myself now!

There are very few Dazai’s apperance in this novel but yes! Maybe not all but more Dazais to come. I just love him so much every single dialogue from him sounds deep to me lol

That’s a little girl, with a suitcase just almost as big as her. Her name is Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin Shelly. Her glasses cover half of her face. And on her chest was about more than 20 medals that were given for people who has contributed to sciences. She looks less than 10 years old but she is a genious who has got her Doctor degree.

I think he did. Towards the end of the story, Chuuya tends to feel more sorry than hatred towards Verlaine. I think it is because he has grown to understand Verlaine’s struggle. I don’t think there is much about their relationship afterwards but since Verlaine also became an executive later, I think they might have some intereactions anyway.
Yeah she was badass. She appeared when the mafia used a Mori double to lure Verlaine in and attacked him. Basically all the combat troops of the Mafia appears in this scene. I think her first line was “Hoho. Looking closely, you look terribly similar to my subordinate.“ then she went on to say that she would cut off some of his limbs because he dared to poach her boy away from PM.

I will try to do this later. There are many parts and I haven’t read all of them so I can’t give a full summary with confidence yet. But their relationship is beautiful and sad at the same time. I can say Rimbaud did so much for Verlaine, so much that he could throw away his own life. But Verlaine realized that a little bit too late :(
