Prayer Prompts - 01/12/2024

MBC Leadership Team

Hi MBC Prayer Warriors,

This week we are praying for revival and spiritual awakening. Begin by praying through Psalms 119:25-48 as it applies to yourself and your family. Then pray for your Maranatha Family, Leaders, and Missionaries. Continue by praying for revival and spiritual awakening. Don't forget to pray for those who have heard the Gospel and for those on the Special Needs list. Finish up with a prayer for revival and spiritual awakening.

Pray the Word of God:

Psalms 119:25-48

25 My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word! 26 When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! 27 Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. 28 My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word! 29 Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law! 30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me. 31 I cling to your testimonies, O LORD; let me not be put to shame! 32 I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!

33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end. 34 Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart. 35 Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. 36 Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain! 37 Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. 38 Confirm to your servant your promise, that you may be feared. 39 Turn away the reproach that I dread, for your rules are good. 40 Behold, I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life!

41 Let your steadfast love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; 42 then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word. 43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules. 44 I will keep your law continually, forever and ever, 45 and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts. 46 I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame, 47 for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love. 48 I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.

Pray for your Maranatha Leaders:

Here are some things you can be praying regularly for the leaders at Maranatha and for the Krueger family as well during this challenging time. We would encourage you to take time to pray and fast for a meeting between Ben & the leaders that will be Tuesday evening, January 16th.

If you would like to have a 31 day list to pray for your leaders, you can find it by clicking the link of your choice (web version, pdf version).

  • Pray that your leaders will love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Pray that God will work powerfully in their hearts, and that they will follow biblical priorities (Deut. 6:5; Matt. 6:33)
  • Pray that your leaders will counsel and teach with discernment through the wise use of Scripture and faith in God’s power to work. Pray that they will be protected from the effects of sinful or negative attitudes they encounter as they counsel and care for others (Mal. 2:7; John 17:15; James 1:5-6)
  • Pray that your leaders will be humble and authentic, not given to pride or hypocrisy. Pray that they will have pure motives and give God glory for every victory (Micah 6:8; John 7:17-18; Gal. 6:14)
  • Praise God for your leaders’ guidance and care, and pray that they will make godly decisions. Pray that they will lead with a shepherd’s heart, and that they will always speak the truth in love (1 Kings 3:9; Jer. 3:15; 1 Pet. 5:2).
  • Pray for unity within the church staff and leadership. Pray that the enemy will not be allowed to create divisions, strife, or misunderstanding among the church leaders (Rom. 14:19; 1 Cor. 12:25)
  • Pray that your leaders will be men of faith and maintain a passionate love for God, not giving in to worries, fears, or an uptight or anxious spirit (Prov. 3:5-6; 1 John 4:18)
  • Pray that your leaders will not give in to discouragement but will deal with inevitable criticism and conflict by committing themselves into the hands of God, who judges righteously (1 Pet. 2:23)
  • Pray that God will protect your leaders’ wives from bitterness when their husbands are criticized. Pray that their intimacy with Jesus will be consistent, and that they will guard their minds and hearts (Prov. 4:23; Heb. 12:15)
  • Ask God to heal any hurts your leaders have suffered. Pray that they will serve the Lord with gladness and encourage the congregation to worship God with a joyful, surrendered spirit (Is. 61:3)

Pray for your Missionaries:

(find 16 suggestions to pray here - you can find their pictures and additional info in the staff section of the directory app)

Pray for Revival and Spiritual Awakening:

1) Ask God to pour out deep conviction of sin, spiritual brokenness, a holy fear of God and genuine repentance among His people. There will be no revival without these elements and only God can produce them in His people. After all, we cannot program or work up genuine brokenness and repentance. (2 Corinthians 7:10)

2) Pray for deep cleansing, genuine repentance, and spiritual power to engulf pastors and Christian leaders. Revival and spiritual awakening are extremely unlikely without a mighty move of God in pastors and Christian leaders. Renewed pastors are absolutely crucial to a move of God in our day! (Ephesians 6:14-20)

3) Pray for God to bestow spiritual hunger in His people and draw them to fervent intercession. God has to grant people genuine faith and fervent desire for prayer. With all our promotion and programming, we cannot “produce” a genuine prayer movement. (Philippians 2:13)

4) Pray that God will bring loving unity in our churches and a deep harmony between our churches. Many churches need healing among members and many churches need to stop competing jealously with other churches. (John 13:35)

5) Pray that God would fill His people with a passion to see people saved. (Only God can give a genuine burden for souls.) Until God’s people intensely pray for the lost and are faithfully sharing the gospel, revival will tarry. Be sure you are praying constantly for many lost people by name. (Romans 9:1-3)

6) Pray that God will give His people a passion for missions and starting churches. Great revivals produce an explosion of mission projects, new ministries, and new church starts. Only God can grant a genuine passion for missions. (Matthew 28:19)

7) Pray that God will call thousands into ministry, missions, and Christian service. Many churches are dying for lack of evangelists, teachers and church workers. Furthermore, we can start only as many churches as we have church planters to start them. (Matthew 9:37)

8) Pray that God will pour out His Spirit like a mighty purifying flood. Ask God to purify our “motives” as we pray for revival. It is possible to pray for revival for selfish or ambitious reasons. Our motives must be solely for; (a) The glory of God, and (b) The increase of the kingdom of God. We must not pray for revival just to solve our own problems or make our church successful in the eyes of men. (James 4:1-4)

9) Pray for a mighty move of conviction and salvation to engulf communities of cultural influence. Some key examples are, Hollywood actors and producers, government officials, educators, teachers, and college professors, news and media people, professional sports players, comedians, LGBTQ+ activist groups, and the music industry. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

10) Specifically pray for God to pour out His Spirit in a fashion even greater than He did in America in 1858 and Wales in 1904. (Ten percent of Wale’s population was saved in six months!) Ask God for a modern day of Pentecost in the United States and Canada. (Mark 11:22-24; John 14:13-14)
