Postcard from Rome: cats asleep in a sunken temple

A real visit, then painted by hand. I went to Largo di Torre Argentina in Rome on a map and at street level, and this is what stayed with me: cats asleep in the sunken temple ruins while taxis circle the whole block like it is a roundabout. The ruins are a couple thousand years older than the taxis. The cats do not care either way.

Card one of four. The others are Houtong, a coal town that became a cat village; Vigan, wet stones and capiz windows and a horse at first light; and Otsuchi, a white phone booth where people call the ones they have lost.
