В США вынесен приговор мужчине, который признан виновным в краже 20 долларов . Вор проник в комнату спящего двухлетнего ребенка и похитил ее свинью-копилку .
Суд американского города Шебойган-Фоллс (штат Висконсин) приговорил 31-летнего Райена Мюллера к шести годам тюремного заключения за мелкую кражу, сообщает телеканал WGAL .com .
На минувшей неделе коллегия присяжных заседателей признала Мюллера виновным в похищении 20 долларов . Суровость нынешнего приговора обусловлена тем, что подсудимый уже имеет четыре судимости за аналогичные преступления .
Как следует из материалов дела, рецидивист проник в дом своей жертвы в Вильсоне в августе 2007 года . Мюллер пробрался прямо в спальню мирно отдыхавшей девочки и вытряхнул 20 долларов из ее копилки . На шум в комнату вошла мать двухлетней девочки - Джули Хершлеб, однако было уже поздно: грабитель скрылся вместе со своей добычей .
Как рассказала в суде Хершлеб, кража тяжело отразилась на психологическом состоянии ее ребенка . Девочка потеряла покой, стала плохо спать и испытывать страхи .
В приговоре судья Эдвард Штенгель отметил, что после своего освобождения Мюллер еще 5 лет будет находиться под домашним арестом, как опасный и закоренелый вор .
"Мелочные" грабители
Иногда и мизерная денежная сумма добычи может обречь преступника на суровое возмездие . Так, в августе 2007 года в Хакассии школьнику грозил 6-летний срок заключения за кражу одной монетки достоинством в 1 рубль .
Как считает обвинение, ученик девятого класса, встретив на улице своего знакомого, потребовал у него деньги . Жертва отказалась отдать содержимое карманов, и тогда 16-летний подросток избил сверстника . Когда же оказалось, что у его пострадавшего ровесника с собой всего 1 рубль, нападавший забрал монету и убежал .
А в Хабаровском крае в мае 2008 года осудили рецидивиста, который ограбил пенсионерку на 40 рублей при помощи игрушечного пистолета . Преступник по ошибке ворвался в квартиру жертвы, после чего был обезврежен ее соседкой . Ему дали 7 лет заключения в колонии строгого режима .
Как следует из материалов дела, осужденный житель поселка Эльбан направлялся в одну из квартир, где торговали самогоном . Спиртное он планировал добыть силой . Чтобы его не узнали, на голову мужчина надел шапочку с прорезями для глаз, в левую руку взял игрушечный пистолет, а в правую - нож .
Однако в последний момент злоумышленник перепутал квартиры и ворвался в жилище пенсионерки . Поняв свою оплошность, он стал требовать у хозяйки деньги, а после получения 40 рублей попытался скрыться . Однако на лестничной площадке грабитель был обезврежен соседкой .
Женщина "схватила пробегавшего рядом с ней молодого человека за шиворот", после чего отобрала у него кошелек с деньгами ограбленной пенсионерки, нож и пистолет . Курьезный финал завершился тем, что соседка "не отпускала грабителя до приезда наряда милиции" .
Детские шалости преследуются законом
В США со времен массового убийства в школе Columbine в 1999 году полиция применяет к школьникам принцип так называемой "нулевой терпимости" . В результате за совершение нетяжких преступлений подростки получают вполне серьезные сроки заключения .
Однако, зачастую, такая судебная практика приводит к курьезам . В 2003 году, например, 14-летняя девушка из Толедо (штат Огайо), оказалась в наручниках за то, что пришла в школу в майке, которая не прикрывала пупок . В полиции на нее завели досье, а также приговорили к одному дню тюремного заключения в центре содержания несовершеннолетних .
В том же году были арестованы 15-летний юноша из Висконсина, виновный в том, что целовался с девушкой на постели матери, 11-летняя школьница, которая спряталась в пустом классе во время урока, и двое 12-летних ребят, которые погасили свет в женской душевой .
В 2004 году в Вирджинии две 16-летних девушки были обвинены в распространении детского порно за то, что отправили по электронной почте своим парням фото топлес . А 8-летний мальчик, страдающий серьезными психическими расстройствами, оказался за решеткой в Пенсильвании за то, что помочился на пол .

Hilarious and heat warming . A wonderful evening in your own living room with Celia Imrie, Helen Mirren (BOTH particular favorites of mine for many years!), Julie Walters, Annette Crosby, Linda Bassett,, Penelope Wilton, and the list goes on . . . . . . . Some wine, cheese, apples and a pear or two ---- add this movie ---- if possible call a friend . . . . OR TWO . . . . OR THREE! You will laugh, mutter the occasional, "Go, girl !", and even wipe away a tear or two . The prefect evening . Honestly, it doesn't stink in the afternoon, either!
Spending time with these Calendar Girls is great fun! When a group of women get together to raise funds in honor of a friend, they’re up against the town’s grump and finding ways to make money . With the delightful British countryside, charming women, fun characters, and a sweet story, these ladies take us on a ride that includes going the full monty in order to raise the money . When the media gets ahold of the story, everyone has to deal with the fame, notice, and family and friends reactions . The women of this group include some of Britain’s best actresses, with their skills on full display . These women are determined not to let a lack of clothing keep them from laughing, do what they have to do, and taking care of business . My wife and I enjoy a good story and laugh and the charms of these actresses, so spending time with these Calendar Girls is an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours .
A terrific film in the mold of "Waking Ned Devine", or perhaps a female "Full Monty"! The ladies of a guild try to improve their lot (money to benefit a local hospital) by an unusual method -- posing for a calendar! What do their husbands think? Only that they're "daft", or too old, or whatever excuses men usually make . But the ringleader (Helen Mirren/"Chris") pushes the idea forward and before you know it the ladies are posing seriously in mostly an undraped fashion . You might say this movie is the poster child for "In Praise of Older Women" -- and you might be right! Not many women can carry themselves into the Golden Years looking like Helen Mirren, but overall it gives one a sense of appreciation of what people can accomplish when they have a common, worth while goal . The acting is excellent, the plot not overly complex, and the women are gloriously real . In the end the men see their loved ones in a new light -- and fashion, of a sort . Just a good solid piece of entertainment, which is based in fact . The ladies to date have raised over £578,000 -- which is a lot more in dollars!

This movie is warm, funny, and poignant (in some places) and a great film to watch when you don't want to think a lot, don't want some horrific crime scenes, don't want to see soft porn, and have no interest in the 40-ish unfunny "comics" that make a crazy amount of money to just be stupid . This has mature women, doing a crazy thing for all the right reasons, and families who are dragged along for the ride (the son is a hoot, and poor kid has to show up to school after his mom and her friends do a semi-nude calendar with less than Victoria's Secret bodies) . One of my favorites :)
Such a fun movie . I love love the way how the women who choose to be photographed had a complete change of heart about the idea once they realized how beautiful their bodies really are . Touches on relationships and also the shameful way people judge one another (and themselves) . Highly recommend this to any female that wants to have a fun and light movie to watch .
This is a terrific movie . The closer I get in age to these ladies, the more I appreciate it . Great dialogue, performances . Dramatic, funny . Wish they made more movies like this . The Brits toss you a bone every few years, but the Americans . . . Lucky for me, I like action movies from Marvel too!
I love it! I finally wanted to watch that movie tonight . It's so funny and making you laugh . Pictures of those ladies look beautiful in a calendar . I recognized a few of actresses in it . They were having a fun photography .
This was a great movie to watch with your daughter (age 13+) Shows the power of older women who put their minds together . Also shows mature women as beautiful and sexy . Love the fact that it is based on a true story .

Delightful and Heartwarming
Utterly delightful film based on the true story of a local fund raising campaign exceeding all expections and becoming an international sensation in a time before social media . The setting is an idyllic small town in rural Yorkshire, the protagonists are a group of generally bored middle aged women whose social lives center around the local Women's Institute . When one of them (Annie, played by Juie Walters) loses her husband to cancer, they set out to raise funds in order to buy a decent sofa for the relations room at the local hospital . Kooky Chris (Helen Mirren) comes up with the idea to pose for a nude calendar . . . The characters are all beautifully developed and well cast, every one of the women feels real with her own life and problems . Julie Walters and Helen Mirren deliver particularly memorable performances . Walters plays the grieving widow Annie with great dignity while Mirren is great fun to watch as the irresponsible and quirky Chris . But all the 'calendar girls' are delightful in their own way and each actress gets her moment to shine . Also nicely drawn and well cast are the men in their lives . John Alderton as Annie's dying husband makes the viewer care and understand why all this matters . Ciarán Hinds is great as Chris' husband about whom there's a lot more to like than initially meets the eye . All in all a thoroughly enjoyable film, and while it probably qualifies as a chick flick, this is one a lot of men may find fun to watch with the women in their lives .

The women face the expected roadblocks and snafus in the form of `shocked,' disapproving voices in the community, but their belief in the rightness of their cause brushes all such problems aside . Calendar Girls is brilliantly performed and directed it is Heart Warming it is Funny, it is Charming it is Entertaining, it is undoubtedly a winner on every level . and that's the Naked Truth!

Purchased this for a friend who had not seen the film before . Securely wrapped and promptly delivered , a suitable choice for a lady to make her cry and laugh in the space of a couple of hours . Well worth every penny .

Brilliant Film
The cover on the DVD is in French but the DVD itself is like many others and can be viewed in any of a number of languages including English . Delivery was on time and the film itself is utterly brilliant and worth watching over and over .
Lovely film Lent my copy and it was never returned so this is a replacement . Like using subtitles which are easy to turn on or off
