Pornhub has revealed the top search terms people have been looking for this Christmas, with a festive one spiking by a whopping 400 percent.
Songs like Santa Baby have given a sexualized edge to the likes of Father Christmas over the years and attention has also fallen on Mrs. Claus during the festive period.
This year, searches for Mrs. Claus have topped the list, according to figures released by PornHub, rising by 401 percent.
However, it seems Mrs Claus’ popularity in the porn community has been declining since her peak in 2018.
Santa was the second most searched for term on the site, with a rise of 374 percent.
Other popular search terms included elf and xxxmas as well as elf hentai.
Hentai porn is now the XXX site’s most searched term globally, ranking number one in the US and number three in the UK.
The word is used to describe adult anime and manga materials, of which hundreds of thousands are hosted on the platform.
“Cartoons are more fantastical than regular porn,” said Dr. Laurie Betito, director of Pornhub’s Sexual Wellness Center.
“Because it’s not real, it can go further, with less constraints that reality offers.
“Hentai porn also tends to have more of a storyline and people seem to be more and more drawn to context.”
The second most searched for term of the year was “romance.”
Data for the past year shows that US viewers are the biggest visitors to the site, with the UK in second and Japan third.

Before we fully throw 2021 into the “let us never speak of it again” file and slam the drawer shut, why not let’s take a look back at the year in online porn? After all, every year, porn video sharing network Pornhub releases a deep dive into that year’s traffic, providing a look at the world’s secret desires. What this says about us, as people, might be illuminating.
And it turns out last year, according to Pornhub’s 2021 Year in Review , we mostly wanted hentai.
Hentai is, according to dictionary.com, “a genre of Japanese manga and anime characterized by overtly sexualized characters and sexually explicit images and plots.” It was the top “search that defined 2021,” according to Pornhub. The company says “hentai” was the “number one search on Pornhub, surpassing both ‘Japanese’ worldwide, and ‘Lesbian’ in the U.S.”
According to Dr. Laurie Betito, clinical psychologist, sex therapist and director of the Pornhub Sexual Wellness Center (?),“Cartoons are more fantastical than regular porn…Because it’s not real, it can go further, with less constraints that reality offers. Hentai porn also tends to have more of a storyline and people seem to be more and more drawn to context.”
Given the state of reality last year, it’s not surprising we wanted porn that’s far removed. Or some of us: Hentai was most popular among members of generation Y. It was 76 percent more popular among 18-24 year olds in 2021 compared to other age-ranges. (Boomers prefer handjobs, it seems. That terms was 59 percent more popular among the over 55 set than among other groups.)
Adjustable weight This set of weights comes in 1.25kg(2.75lb), 1.5kg(3.3lb) and 2kg(4.4lb) sizes - four of each weight. It can be assembled into two single dumbbells or a barbell through connecting rods. Multi-functional strength training equipment offers a better training way than any other exercise machine.
Adorably, the #2 “search that defined 2021” on pornhub in 2021 was “romance.” Pornhub reports that the popularity of searches for “romance” and “romantic” more than doubled in 2021, and “Bromance” grew 288% among Pornhub’s gay male users.
“Many people have experienced loneliness and isolation and may be craving love, intimacy and romance. So the next best thing to a partner it seems, are the fantasies of romance,” suggests Pornhub’s Dr. Betito.
Searches for “trans” and “transgender” increased on Pornhub by 141% 2021, and views of the transgender category grew by 23%, making it the 10th most watch category by male visitors.
At the risk of nitpicking the statistics doled by a pornography provider, I question why “romance” is placed on the same list with “hentai.” Pornhub doesn’t go into great depth explaining what it means by “trends that defined 2021,” but it looks a little like, “what we want people to think was popular in 2021.” Hentai, the company says, was “a top ten search in almost every country in 2021,” and its list of top terms bears this out. But they say “romance” searches “more than doubled in 2021.” Since we don’t know what it doubled from , it’s hard to really gauge how popular it is compared to “hentai,” in spite of being on the same list. It’s basically apples and oranges.
When it comes to pornhub’s categories (as opposed to searches) “Big Ass” showed phenomenal year-to-year growth, shooting up 314% from the previous year. Other winners include “bisexual male” with 288% growth and “transgender” which grew 23%. “Popular with women” grew by 41%, driven no doubt by pornhub’s female users. Speaking of…
According to pornhub, about 1/3 of its users from the Unites States are women, and women mostly like porn about women. Top terms women searched for include “lesbian,” and “popular with women,” while “scissoring” was searched by women 170% more than by men.
“Solo male,” “pussy licking,” and “fingering” were all more popular with women than men, prompting sex coach Kaitlin Klarer to suggest that “women are jonesing for some good ‘outercourse’ content. So guys remember that!” I will keep it in mind.
Interestingly, in the Philippines, women make up the majority of pornhub’s viewers (52 percent). Germany ranks lowest (28%) but is only a couple points lower than the U.K. and other European countries. South and Central American countries seem to have a greater percentage of female pornhub viewers.
If you’ve ever used Pornhub (and you know you have), you might be saying, “I never told Pornhub my gender or age. How could they know?” It’s a good question, and doesn’t have a definitive answer. But if I had to guess, I’d say they were tracking your usage on other sites and assuming your demographic information based on this. (It’s in their TOS . Check out Pornhub’s privacy page for more info.)
You could argue that all of pornhub’s data is suspect based on this, but gender and age predicting algorithms are scarily accurate, even if they don’t look at your cookies .
You might think another year of moderate-lockdown would result in pornhub viewers looking at porn for a longer period of time, but this doesn’t seem to be the case . The average visit duration in the US was 9 minutes 44 seconds, down by 23 seconds from 2020. Maybe pornhub’s search is getting better. Maybe we’re all getting a little sick of porn. Either way, people in Wyoming view porn for the longest average time—11 minutes 3 seconds—while people in Connecticut apparently have places to be. Their viewing sessions average a full minute shorter than Wyoming’s at 10 minutes 2 seconds.
The highlight of pornhub’s 2021 analysis for me is the “ United States Top Relative Searches ” map, which breaks down which terms are more popular in which states compared to other states. It asks so many evocative questions, like:
In 2021, pornhub does not report the term “teen” anywhere in its year in review, although the category seem pretty popular on the site. Also missing: step- anything.
If we glance at pornhub’s “most viewed categories,” chart, “big dick,” BBW” and “cartoon” are all shown as popular categories. “Teen” didn’t make it into the top 20 categories at all. But this seems to be a list of categories that had the highest uptick in 2021, as opposed to actually being the most viewed. Or maybe it’s a combination of most popular and highest rising? It’s hard to tell. But either way, “teen” didn’t make it into any country’s “top category” list either.
Far be it from me to question the integrity of pornhub, but either the teen category is very unpopular, or there is an attempt by Pornhub to massage their data in order to make us all appear less creepy. (“Data Massage,” by the way, did not make any list either, but it’s the sexiest of all.)

As well as breaking down the search habits of each individual country, Pornhub's Year in Review also lists the website's most popular fictional characters.
The annual roundup is based on data compiled by the adult website's own statisticians and researchers. It contains insights about things like the differences between Gen Z and boomers' porn consumption and if any U.S. states have unusual sex kinks.
However, one area that might be of particular interest is the section dedicated to fictional people. Here, the website has assembled separate lists of the most commonly searched characters from movies, TV shows and cartoons, as well as video games.
It's worth noting that this data is just based on the number of searches in 2021, rather than on individual video hits. As such, it can be difficult to ascertain what type of videos are most popular (whether they are animated or involve an element of cosplay). In some cases, the chart just lists the name of the show or movie, meaning that you can't always tell if there is a specific character that people are looking for.
Nevertheless, it's still a fascinating subject to explore. Here are all of the insights from the Pornhub Year in Review 2021.
When it comes to movie characters, superheroes dominated the list. Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Catwoman, Batgirl, Joker, Deadpool and Captain Marvel all place somewhere in the top 20, with Harley Quinn taking the number 1 spot.
In general, the searches are mostly related to well-established properties (Harley Quinn has regularly topped previous years' lists) and don't feel innately rooted in "2021." That is with the exception of Free Guy and Ghostbusters , which just had a new sequel , but those are sitting right at the bottom of the pile anyway.
There are also a few animated films here, such as The Incredibles and Hotel Transylvania.
While Squid Game emerged as the most searched TV show of the year on Google , it wasn't quite as big on Pornhub.
In fact, the Netflix Original only managed to land the thirteenth spot here, lagging behind things like Rick and Morty , Teen Titans , Family Guy, Scooby Doo and even SpongeBob SquarePants .
Generally speaking, this list is very heavy on cartoons, with Game of Thrones being the highest placed live-action show (and that came in twelfth).
As for the top spot, that went to The Simpsons , although this is just a generic search term, so it's impossible to know if it's for a specific character.
Finally, when it comes to video game characters there is representation from a bunch of different franchises.
Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine and Ada Wong from Resident Evil are all on the list ( but Lady Dimitrescu is surprisingly absent ) and Nintendo IPs are quite prominent as well. Mario, Princess Peach, Link and an assortment of Pokémon are in the top 20, while Bowsette (a gender-swapped version of Bowser) returns after being the most searched character of 2018 , although she has been knocked down a few places this year.
Another fascinating inclusion is Abby from The Last of Us Part II , as she is a character who has been at the center of a lot of controversy , especially in relation to how she looks. In particular, some have criticized the character for having an "unrealistic body type" and of not being "feminine" enough, due to her large muscles. So it's interesting to see that she has been searched a lot on Pornhub.
As for the top spot, that went to Lara Croft, who is another staple of these annual lists.

Millions around the world are outraged at Pornhub's alleged complicity in child rape and trafficking
SACRAMENTO, Calif. , July 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- In the last few days the #Traffickinghub movement's viral short animated video exposing Pornhub for allegedly profiting from the rape and sex trafficking of women and children reached over 25 million views across all social media.
People around the globe have been sharing the video with comments of disgust, horror and outrage as they learn for the first time that children are being raped for profit on the world's largest and most popular porn site. The video highlights multiple examples like the story of a 15 year old girl from Florida who had been missing for a year and was found after 58 videos of her rape and sexual abuse were found being monetized on Pornhub. Or, 14 year old Rose Kalemba who the BBC reported was taken at knifepoint, raped for 12 hours and the videos of her rape and torture uploaded to Pornhub where they remained for months despite her begging for them to be removed. Or, the 118 cases of child sexual abuse and rape that were investigated and confirmed by the Internet Watch Foundation who reported that half of cases were Category A level abuse including penetration and/or sadism. Or, the case of a toddler being sexually exploited on the site found in an investigation by the Sunday Times.
The video also highlights the fact that Pornhub has no system in place to reliably verify the age or the consent of those featured in the over 6 million videos uploaded to the site per year, which enables millions of users to easily upload acts of real sexual violence against both adults and children.
The Traffickinghub petition calling for the site to be shut down and its executives held accountable for the alleged mass rape and sex trafficking has reached over 1.5 million signatures from 192 countries, and the movement has the support of over 300 child protection and anti-trafficking organizations. The movement has also drawn support from professionals in the adult entertainment industry, who released a manifesto and their own petition rejecting Pornhub and its illegal, exploitative practices.
"The world is waking up to the fact that Pornhub is infested with videos of the real rape and sex trafficking of underage victims as well as vulnerable women. There are now millions around the globe boycotting the site and calling for Pornhub to be shut down," said campaign founder Laila Mickelwait .
The video can be watched and shared via Instagram , Twitter , Youtube , and Facebook .
About the Traffickinghub Movement The Traffickinghub campaign is a non-religious, non-partisan effort to hold the largest porn website in the world accountable for enabling and profiting off of the mass sex-trafficking
