The two top executives of Pornhub’s parent company announced they were resigning on Tuesday amid mounting scrutiny of alleged underage and non-consensual videos on the site.
MindGeek chief executive Feras Antoon and chief operating officer David Tassillo are leaving the company but will remain shareholders, MindGeek said in a statement. The company also made an unspecified number of layoffs on Tuesday, according to social media posts from employees.
The news comes after a string of disturbing reports on the alleged proliferation of underage and non-consensual videos on MindGeek’s sites, which also include Brazzers, RedTube and YouPorn.
A New Yorker investigation published earlier in June centered on the plight of a 15-year-old British girl who struggled to have explicit videos of herself removed from Pornhub and other sites after they were uploaded without her consent.
Luxembourg-based MindGeek is also staring down a $600 million class action suit filed last year on behalf of several alleged underage victims whose videos were reportedly shared on Pornhub without their consent.
The class representative in the suit, which was filed in Canada, is a woman who alleges that a video of her rape as a 12-year-old was posted to Pornhub , and who accused the site of being deaf to her pleas to take it down.
The company also took a major hit in 2020 after Visa and MasterCard stopped processing payments for some of its sites due to concerns about illegal content.
A MindGeek spokesperson denied that Antoon and Tassillo’s departures were related to recent reporting on the company and said that the “transition has been in development since early 2022.”
“With the company strategically positioned for long-term growth, MindGeek’s executive leadership team will run day-to-day operations on an interim basis, with a search underway for replacements,” the spokesperson said.
Pornhub is the 15th most popular website in the entire world, according to SimilarWeb , making the smut site more popular than TikTok and Netflix.
MindGeek, which is privately held, says its sites receive more than 115 million visitors each day. The company has offices in Los Angeles, London, Montreal, Cyprus and Budapest.

This bride-to-be is kicking her wedding off with a bang !
An absent-minded fiancée accidentally directed guests of her upcoming nuptials to PornHub.com — an X-rated content platform with hardcore clips of folks getting their freak on — rather than her official wedding website.
“I got my wedding invitations in the mail today… I made a very large mistake ,” confessed the blushing bride, only digitally known as @Squidward.Tentacles, in a TikTok testimonial with over 189,800 views.
“I forgot I put this fun website as a placeholder,” she added, showcasing her gold-trimmed RSVP card and zooming in on the PornHub address where her wedding information should have been printed.
The call-to-action to the saucy site was also linked on her chic “Reception” info cards, which read: “For more wedding details, please visit our website http://www.Pornhub.com.”
And the something old, something new, something borrowed and something lewd misprint wasn’t her only flub.
The forgetful future Mrs. also failed to update the information about the lodging accommodations she’d arranged for out-of-town attendees for her big day.
Instead of naming a posh hotel or resort, she unintentionally listed the Super 8 Motel as her wedding guests’ overnight destination.
“I forgot that I put the Super 8 Motel as a placeholder as well until we figured out hotels we’re going to block off,” said the blonde. “If you’re our guest, I promise I didn’t block rooms off at the Super 8 Motel.”
She then went on to offer an abject apology to friends and family — most notably her mom — for her screwy oversights.
“Mom, I’m sorry. I will fix it,” the wacky wife-to-be vowed.
“I think it’s funny, personally,” she continued, “but I don’t think anyone else is gonna think it’s funny, especially my family and Nate’s family and literally anyone else.”
However, much to the bride’s surprise, online audiences were positively tickled by her porno plug and motel misstep.
“I didn’t realize that I was invited to your wedding since I go to your website daily,” joked one commentator.
“I think this is hilarious! I checked my invites 1,000 times before I finalized because I did the same thing!” another admitted.
But other cyber bystanders scolded the woman for neglecting to edit her matrimony memos.
“Aren’t wedding invitations kinda expensive to not bother proofreading before ordering and mailing out?” one finger-wagger wrote.
“Maybe next time send it to like five people to proofread,” another suggested, adding a series of stunned-faced emojis for effect.

Citing the coronavirus and the need to stay away from others, the adult website is offering free access to Pornhub Premium for all users for the next month.

Even Pornhub wants you to stay inside to help stop the coronavirus from spreading. So to encourage you to do so, the adult website is offering free access to Pornhub Premium to all users for the next month.
The site has already been offering free access to Pornhub Premium in Italy, France, and Spain, which have all ordered lockdowns in response to the pandemic. But with other countries, including the US, enacting lockdowns, now users everywhere can enjoy the same deal.
“Since this is a situation that continues to impact us all, we've decided to play our part in encouraging everyone to stay home and are launching Free Premium worldwide until April 23,” Pornhub said in a blog post (Opens in a new window) on Tuesday.
Pornhub Premium normally costs $9.99 a month ($95.88 a year), and mainly offers you access to adult videos in HD quality without ads. Now you can use it for free by visiting Pornhub’s new “ StayHomehub (Opens in a new window) ” website.
Pornhub only asks that you either commit to isolating yourself at home, or agree to regularly wash your hands and practice social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. You’ll also have to sign up with a username, password, and email address.
As part of today’s announcement, the website is also giving all its models a 100 percent payout from both Pornhub and Modelhub during the month of April, citing the financial impact from the pandemic. “We have always been a global community, hosting Models from every corner of the world. So when a global human crisis happens, it is up to everyone to work together to help support the community, and that includes us, too,” Pornhub wrote in the blog post.
