Porn stars reveal the backstage - and front of camera - tricks used in the adult film industry in Channel 5 documentary The Sex Business: Porn Stars
Britain is the second biggest consumer of porn in the world, which means it's VERY big business in the UK.
The world's leading porn site gets 23BILLION visits and demand shows no sign of slowing.
But who are the people who choose to work in the porn industry as adult actors and actresses and why do they decide to work in an industry with a seedy reputation?
A new Channel 5 documentary, The Sex Business: Porn Stars, takes a front seat look at the porn industry and those who work in it.
Jess and Billy are a couple who both work and play together.
Jess has worked as an escort for the last 15 years, starting when she was just 20 and recently she's branched out into porn.
But rather than hoping she'll make her millions by performing for the camera, she's using at a platform to boost her escort business.
Jess explains: "I have had normal jobs but I just didn't want to be there.
"I can't see myself stuck in an office, that would be my idea of hell. Everyone I know that does that is miserable."
Meanwhile, boyfriend Billy is new to the industry.
Previously a builder, he admits: "Summer is great but winter is pants, so I just thought I'd give it a go."
And when it comes to getting down to filming, all is definitely not as it seems.
Filming is almost secondary to the process - the most important part of making a porn movie is the photographs.
Not only that, but a lot of what viewers see is totally faked.
Director, Luke Hotrod, explains: "The pictures are the important bit, they're what get people interested."
Many props are used, such as white cream and much of what is shot is completely staged.
And all of the photos are staged, rather than natural poses.
Jess and Billy have been together for five months and otuside their work have a normal relationship.
Jess said: "I haven't had a relationship for six years and then Billy messaged me on Twitter .
"We can talk about work but then we switch off and do normal things.
"We go for dinner, walk the dog and see friends. It's great fun."
Kiki Minaj is the leading black adult actress in the UK and makes up to £6,000 for every shoot she does.
Outside of her job she loves baking, going to the theatre, visiting her family and having dinner with friends.
And Kiki also reveals that everything going on in front of the camera is not quite as it seems.
She said: "When you are having sex at home you love the person and you're hugging but in porn everything has to be open and everything has to be on an angle.
"It's not very comfortable at all."
There are some difficulties that Kiki has encountered.
Currently single, she says she's had problems when in relationships with men unable to deal with the fact she's a pornstar.
Kiki said: "It makes it difficult to be in a normal relationship because down the line people act crazy because they thought they could deal with it but they can't.
"They want you to stop but if you do, who will pay the council tax?"
But she is proud of what she does and believes porn is the opposite of a sexist industry.
Kiki, who originally planned to become an accountant, said: "Women are taken very seriously in this industry. It's all about the girl.
"When people are watching porn, they're mainly watching the girl. There's no sexism in porn, in porn, the females are the stars."
Ashley Ryder is one of the leading gay adult actors in the UK and he believes that "there's something empowering about being paid for sex".
He hopes to continue to work in the industry for the next few years before turning his hand to directing adult films.
Ashley admits he was attracted to the industry when he was a "fat teenager".
He said: "I'm having fun, I'm not hurting anyone and I've made a career out of something that I really enjoy doing, which is sex."
Webcam star, Jema, makes £100,000 a year from men paying to be her 'slaves' on camera.
She admits she has chosen her job purely because she wants to make as much money as possible.
Jema said: "I'm not afraid to admit that I'm very materialistic. I have a nice car, a nice house, hundreds of pairs of shoes and I like to go on nice holidays.
"My main drive is all about making money."
And despite being called a prostitute and porn star, she insists she's neither and never removes her knickers, baring only her breasts.
She said: "If someone had told me I could make this much money without taking my knickers off, I never would have believed them."
Some of her clients are some of the most powerful men in society, from chief executives of big firms to headteachers.
Jema said: "Most people who giveme money are my slaves and they want to be financially dominated and want to be humiliated."
But there is a dark side to what she does - death threats and stalkers.
Jema said: "I've had people stalk me and death threats. I've had people say they'll bash me over the head, then stab me and do terrible things to my body.
"But I can't rewind. I've go the stalkers so I might as well just carry on."

Porn becomes less seedy, but not quite mainstream
A changing of the guard might be underway in the porn world.
There's always an ebb and flow when it comes to the popularity of the stars in front of the camera, but it's starting to look like a new generation of porn stars is beginning to take charge of the industry - or at least command the attentions of fans and trade publications.
With the industry's annual expo in Las Vegas running from January 20-23, we've once again assembled a list of the most popular porn stars, as we do every year. This time, however, there are a number of newcomers to the list - and some performers who are long-time veterans of these rankings have dropped off.
Whether that's an aberration or a shift in star power likely won't be clear for another year or so, but it's a notable change all the same. Only half of the performers who made last year's list are back in 2016.
Our methodology for assembling the list incorporates not just the industry's opinion of the people in front of the camera, but the fans' as well. We began by determining who has earned the most nominations in the annual AVN and Xbiz awards (the industry's two highest-profile awards shows). From that list, we looked at a three-month average of the stars' Google Trends ranking, taking our 'dirty dozen' from the top scoring personalities.
Here's who came out on top, and when you're done with this list you can check out the Dozen from 2015 , 2014 , 2013 , 2012 and 2011 , too.

Two years ago, this 24-time nominee was a college student, but she knew the academic life wasn't for her. After taking a semester off to reassess life, she came up with the Carter Cruise brand - and launched it with a topless photo shoot.
When she realized she was comfortable with that, she decided to dive all the way into porn. Her popularity soon exploded. In addition to making our list, she also topped the ranking of 2015's most popular stars at porn site GameLink.
A six-year veteran of the adult entertainment industry, Reid is a master at social media, where she has cultivated her fan base by regularly tweeting pictures and Vine videos of herself - usually nude.
In 2014, she was named Performer of the Year by Xbiz, which gave her already fast-growing career a big boost. She's up for that same award from both Xbiz and AVN this year - along with 14 other nominations.
Fox started her career in porn as soon as she turned 18, becoming Penthouse's Pet of the Month less than a year later. Now 20, she was nominated for 13 awards this year. As her career progresses, she has mentioned she's interested in getting into directing. But for now, she's busy in front of the camera.
Currently in her fifth year as a performer, Albrite is coming off a huge year. In 2015, she swept performer of the year honors from AVN and Xbiz, which she has parlayed into some behind the scenes work as well.
Three years ago, LA Weekly said she was one of 10 porn stars who could be the next Jenna Jameson. It's too early to declare that as truth, but with 12 more nominations this year, she's certainly on her way.
Vespoli, who made the Dirty Dozen last year as well, is a curiosity of sorts. While she is a performer, most of her AVN and Xbiz nominations come from her work behind the camera as a director of films for adult film studio Evil Angel (something she has been doing for 10 years now).
But her willingness to jump into the action makes her higher profile than many women who oversee porn films, earning her a big fan base. She's up for 12 awards this year.
A former model for Louis Vuitton and American Apparel, Diamond quickly became one of the top performers in the porn world when she made the switch. She's nominated for 11 awards this year. She also boasts one of the more distinctive looks in the industry, often sporting a haircut that has one side of her head shaved close.
Preston has appeared on the Dirty Dozen since its inception - and has a substantial fan base within and outside of the industry. She is in constant demand as a performer, hosts an occasional Web series ("Naked with Chanel") that focuses on issues surrounding sexuality in America, directs films, is a board member of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee, and has appeared more regularly on mainstream programs, such as Showtime's recent documentary on the adult industry.
Janson's porn career started when she was in high school, a rarity even in this industry. She began appearing as a Webcam model on MyFreeCams, but was recruited by an agent and began shooting three months after her 18th birthday. She dropped out of school after word of her career choice spread and she was harassed.
But in the two years since she entered adult entertainment, she has found a niche, earning eight award nominations this year.
Perhaps the only performer to take her stage name from a major banking institution (where she was a teller before entering the porn world), Chase has had a fairly low profile for the past six years. Her star began to rise when she had a cameo on Sons of Anarchy in 2014 and this year she has seven nominations.
Adult entertainment is a family tradition for Rain. Her mother, while not a performer, posed in Hustler many years ago. Rain stuck with nude modeling at first as well, performing occasionally as a Webcam model. Curiosity about the industry led her to give it a try and this year she has accrued seven award nominations.
A two-year veteran of the industry, Grey amassed seven nominations this year. A music lover, she says she plays both the cello and bass guitar.
Last year's AVN Male Performer of the Year, Blue has more than 30 nominations this year. Born in Austria, he has been part of the industry since 2000 and in 2014 married fellow performer Anikka Albrite.
Correction: This story was revised to correct the spelling of Jillian Janson's first name.

Porn star Adriana Chechik is speaking out about the shocking injuries she’s sustained on the sets of her X-rated films.
The adult-movie actress, 30, appeared on “The Plug Podcast” earlier this week and said she’s suffered damage to her neck, spine and brainstem during rough romps recorded for the internet.
“I feel like it’s just like sexier wrestling,” Chechik stated, comparing her craft to that of WWE performers.
“I have a really f–ked up neck now. I have a pinched nerve and my C6 and 7 [parts of the spine] are out of place,” the brunette alleged, according to the Daily Star .
Additionally, Chechik claimed she has suffered a slipped disk and her “brainstem actually came out of pocket a little bit.”
The beauty also revealed that, much like an elite athlete, she takes an ice bath after shooting her scenes in order to help her body recover.
Chechik told the podcast that she planned to partake in a wild orgy while injured but that her doctor cautioned her against the idea.
“He was like, ‘Can you please just wait one year for this? Can you let your body heal appropriately?’ And I was like, ‘No, I have to do it.’ He was like, ‘Please, just treat yourself right!’” she recalled.
Chechik didn’t divulge whether she went ahead with the romp, but she has no plans to give up porn, despite the toll it’s taking on her body.
The star — who boasts 3.3 million Instagram followers — also has her own OnlyFans account, which has thousands of paying subscribers.
Chechik, who grew up in foster care, entered the adult film industry in 2013.
The porn industry is known less for the physical injuries its participants sustain than for the mental health problems that plague many stars. Actors frequently suffer from depression and drug addiction.
In 2018, The Post reported that “porn stars were dying at an alarming rate,” with seven young starlets found dead in a span of just five months.
