FOOTAGE of a mother repeatedly raped in front of her screaming children posted on YouTube has sparked calls for the video sharing website to be moderated.

The 25-year-old woman, who said her glass of champagne was spiked by three teenage boys when they visited her London home in November, said the three-minute mobile phone footage of of her horrific ordeal was watched by 600 people.

The woman said she was unable to move, but fully aware during the hours-long attack.

"They just hurt me the whole way through. They had no respect," she told Sky News.

"Afterwards one p****** on me, like I was nothing.

"I felt dirtly, humiliated, ashamed. I did not want to tell anyone, did not want to do anything, I just wanted to forget."

Complaint

The mother decided to report the gang-rape to the police after hearing rumours of the YouTube footage, which was taken off the site after a local reporter complained about its graphic nature.

"Putting (the video) on the internet was an abomination," the mother said.

"I was raped on film and you could hear my daughter and four-year-old son crying. I cannot understand how any website could show such a thing."
A YouTube Australia spokesperson told NEWS.com.au the site's rules prohibited content such as pornography and gratuitous violence from being uploaded.
"Anyone in the world who sees content that they think is inappropriate can flag it and our staff then review it," he said. "If the content breaks our terms, then we remove it. If the police ask us for information in accordance with legal process, we will cooperate."
He said YouTube had also been used by police to solve and prevent crimes. In South Australia police use YouTube footage to identify criminals.
"YouTube is a community site used by millions of people in very positive ways. Sadly, as with any form of communication, there is a tiny minority of people who try to break the rules."
"Extremely difficult"

A technology lawyer with UK firm Pinsent Masons told The Times it was "extremely difficult" for trained staff at YouTube to control videos showing graphic images, with 10 hours of content uploaded every minute.

"In this instance - where you have a video that may depict a crime - there's no technical measure the site can apply that will prevent it being posted in the first place," Struan Robertson said.

"The only option would be for them to review every video before it is posted and that is unrealistic. What sites like YouTube need is a good reporting mechanism which enables content to be flagged to the site once it has been posted, and YouTube operates well in this sense."

Three teenagers - two aged 16 and one aged 14 - have been questioned by police over the attack.

Rebels and government troops in the Kasai region have committed sickening atrocities including cannibalism and mass beheadings, human rights experts claim
BOYS in the Congo have been forced to rape their mothers while blood-drinking soldiers have feasted on the flesh of dying victims, a nightmarish new report claims.
Rebels and government troops in the Kasai region of the African country have committed sickening atrocities including mass rape and cannibalism, UN human rights experts claim.
In one horrific massacre, 186 men and young lads from a single village had their heads chopped from their bodies, the report says.
The team investigating the conflict in the Kasai region told the United Nations Human Rights Council last week that they suspected all sides were guilty of war crimes and offences against humanity.
Their detailed 126-page report catalogued gruesome attacks committed in the conflict, which erupted in late 2016, involving the Kamuina Nsapu and Bana Mura militias and Congo's armed forces, the FARDC.
The testimony included boys being forced to rape their mothers, little girls being told witchcraft would allow them to catch bullets, and women forced to choose gang-rape or death.
What happened in the Kasai simply beggars description, Congo's Human Rights Minister Marie-Ange Mushobekwa told the Council.
The report said: "One victim told us that in May 2017 she saw a group of Kamuina Nsapu militia, some of whom sported female genitals as medals.
"Some witnesses recalled seeing people cutting up, cooking and eating human flesh, including penises cut from men who were still alive and from corpses, especially FARDC, and drinking human blood."
Lead investigator Bacre Waly Ndiaye told the Council that in one incident, at least 186 men and boys from a single village were beheaded by the Kamuina Nsapu.
Some witnesses recalled seeing people cutting up, cooking and eating human flesh, including penises cut from men who were still alive...
The rebels group includes child soldiers forced to fight, unarmed or wielding sticks, who are convinced that magic has made them invulnerable.
Many such children were killed when FARDC soldiers machine-gunned them indiscriminately, said Ndiaye.
He added: "The bodies were often buried in mass graves... or were sometimes piled in trucks by soldiers to be buried elsewhere."
There were initially thought to be about 86 mass graves, but after investigating on the ground the team suspected there may be hundreds, he said.

A Congolese government spokesman told Reuters that such information should be passed to magistrates in Congo.
He said: "We were not aware of this and it is very curious. But it is clearly a politically motivated press campaign that has nothing to do with justice."
Human Rights minister Mushobekwa said the government had given the expert team its whole-hearted cooperation and wanted the truth to come out.
But she some of the findings were "rather doubtful" because the investigation had been done quickly.
