Earth Colony Terra 7 officially became its own territory one hundred years after initial colonization, and became known as Daio. A decade after it became independent, the orbiting star emitted a solar flare which severely disrupted the new world. Growing instability led to internal conflicts, and the one world nation broke into several dozen. After a long, war filled decade, the planet has become more stabilized, leaving three nations in its wake.

Oblon is the smallest country, in population, and in land area. Despite their lack in size, they have many natural resources, and has most infrastructure since it was the location of the initial colonization effort.

The DFS, or Daio Federation States is the second largest nation, and has the largest human population. They have many agricultural advantages, which allowed them to grow the largest population.

Hono is the largest nation in landmass, and has a considerable population. Unlike Oblon or the DFS, they do not wish to end the war, and only see a future of Daio with a united planet and continue to fight. Their militaristic structure has given them an advantage against the other two countries, which has led the DFS and Oblon to take increasing action against them.

Despite Oblon and the DFS still warring with Hono, they are not close enough allies to fight together, which has prolonged the conflict. Oblon has recently taken drastic measures to advance their cause, and to improve their fighting force. The newest would be the introduction of recon cavalry units.

Unlike the cavalry of the past, they use humans as their horses. Through genetic modification and augmentation technologies, the average human can be turned into an effective tactical force. These soldiers can be outfitted to carry equipment, other soldiers, and can be armed.

Colloquially they are known as Pony Soldiers.

Pony Soldiers are typically involuntarily inducted into service, most often they were once captured Hono soldiers or citizens, although some Oblon soldiers volunteer for this program. Since Oblon has a small human population, they can't afford to use their own men and woman for this program, and much prefer captured enemies.

Ideal Candidates for the Pony Soldier Program are young men and women between 18 and 25, and can expect to have an average productive output of around ten years. Since the program is only a few years old, no pony has been released, and no one is certain how to go about releasing them due to their augmentations. Some suggest retaining the ponies and use them on base to train new recruits and be good examples. Some say they could be converted for civilian use for activities like farm labor. Very few have said to release them into the citizen population.

Once a pony soldier candidate has been identified, they are relocated to the main facility which produces these soldiers. From there, they are given full medical screenings to ensure they are healthy and capable of the procedure. For efficiency, the pony program treats male and female ponies identically, and to ensure no inter-pony copulation occurs, all male ponies are secured in chastity cages which often are never removed since their purpose isn't to mate.

Pony candidates are sedated, and given the genetic modification serum which can take from a day to a week to complete their genetic restructuring. Once they are done, ponies will develop incredibly strong thighs, rears, and calves, giving them unmatched distance and speed. Most vehicles cannot compete since ponies can move efficiently on all terrain, and since Daio's gravity is seventy percent of earths, these ponies can reach speeds of up to sixty miles an hour and jump twenty feet in the air. With cargo, they cannot run as fast, but can maintain moderate speeds for several hours without rest.

Pony Soldiers are fitted with many ballistic and energy armor, but due to their need for mobility, traditional armor needed to be modified to fit their purpose. Nano suits were invented to be skintight and streamline, which keep ponies cool and clean, while also protecting them from most ballistics and can absorb intense energy weapon blasts.

During the test trials of the Pony Soldier Program, it was determined that when ponies undergo intense emotional therapies, their efficiency can increase up to sixty percent. These therapies were considered unorthodox at first, but after many repeated tests, they were proved to be effective and necessary. During their initial transformation procedures, implants are placed in the most sensitive areas of the body. With remote activation, they can be used to stimulate ponies to increase their brain activity, and their efficiency. Along these lines, it was determined that keeping ponies in this state as long as possible, and without premature release, was the most beneficial.

Keeping the ponies on the brink of orgasm for weeks will also have the added benefit of making them far more obedient, as they will do nearly anything to get release.

Once they have been fully outfitted, they are sent off to anywhere they are needed. When they have been relocated, ponies are put into groups of one to three, and under the command of a Cavalry Captain. These captains are required to break in their ponies and train them, as well as develop close bonds with them to make their unit more productive. It isn't officially recommended, but most Cavalry Captains copulate with their ponies, which has been linked with increased performance.
