Polkadot Security Exchange Security

Not your keys, not your coins. Say it again. Not your keys, not your coins. Leaving DOT on an exchange is asking for trouble. Exchanges are massive honeypots. Hackers target them 24/7. FTX collapsed. Mt. Gox vanished. Celsius imploded. Why do you think Binance or Kraken are immune? They aren't. They are single points of failure. They hold billions. That makes them targets. Centralized exchanges are the antithesis of crypto. You surrender control for convenience. You trust a CEO with your net worth. That is objectively stupid. Exchanges get hacked. Insiders steal funds. Governments freeze assets. If your DOT is on an exchange, you own nothing. You own an IOU. An IOU from an unregulated casino. That's a terrible asset class. Get your funds off. Now. Today. Stop waiting for the weekend. Set up a Polkadot wallet. Write down the seed phrase. Withdraw. The withdrawal fees are negligible compared to a 100% loss. Staking on exchanges is a trap. They offer you 10% APY. They keep the rest. They vote with your tokens. They control the network. You are subsidizing their power while taking all the risk. Stake natively. It's not hard. The Polkadot staking dashboard makes it trivial. You get higher rewards. You retain custody. You help secure the network. Exchange staking is lazy. Laziness gets punished in crypto. What about two-factor authentication? It's the bare minimum. SMS 2FA is a joke. SIM swaps happen every day. Hackers bribe telecom workers. They port your number. They intercept your texts. They drain your account. Use an authenticator app. Better yet, use a YubiKey. Hardware 2FA is the only acceptable standard. But even a YubiKey won't save you if the exchange goes bankrupt. The exchange's database is not the blockchain. The exchange's database is a spreadsheet. They can change the numbers whenever they want. If they face a liquidity crisis, withdrawals get halted. You are trapped. Your screen says you have 1000 DOT. But the blockchain says the exchange's wallet is empty. You are left holding the bag. Fractional reserve banking in crypto is real. Don't be the exit liquidity. Centralized exchanges serve one purpose. Onboarding and offboarding fiat. That's it. Treat them like public restrooms. Get in, do your business, and get out. Don't live there. Don't store your valuables there. It is unsanitary and dangerous. Take responsibility for your assets. Custody is terrifying at first. It requires discipline. It requires learning. But it is the only way to guarantee your financial sovereignty. Stop relying on middlemen. Polkadot was built to remove middlemen. Using an exchange defeats the entire purpose. Be your own bank. Withdraw your DOT immediately. The clock is always ticking on the next exchange collapse. Don't be caught inside when the doors lock.
