Plump Anime Girl
While anime is known for its depictions of thin, attractive female characters, every now and then a show will offer a refreshing change of pace. What happens when an anime character is overweight?
Is there an anime character you can think of who is over weight? Because there are so few of them, it’s unlikely. There are few “fat” characters in anime who aren’t cliches, such as foodies or geeks.
In addition, when the character is visibly obese. In Cinderella Girls and Azumanga Daioh, characters like Kanako Mimura and Koyomi Mizuhara are barely noticeable larger than the rest of the cast, yet they obsess over reducing weight because of it.
In Asian cultures, being obese is associated with negative connotations, which is why there is such a stigma attached to it. Compared to the United States, fewer than 5% of the population in Japan is obese and less than a quarter is overweight. As a result, being overweight in Japan isn’t inherently a bad thing – it’s simply rare.
As a result, there are extremely few overweight characters in a culture that has so few overweight people. However, when they do exist, anime tends to resort to stereotype.
The archetypal overweight man anime character is obsessed with food, a nerd (otaku or computers, sometimes both), and a social misfit. In the anime world, bulkier adult guys are generally depicted as powerful officials (policemen and politicians).
Overweight female characters in anime are often shown as selfish and cruel, with their personalities shifting to fitter proportions as they gain weight. Most likely, you’ll witness a big overweight adult woman trying to get into the pants of an unassuming young high school boy if you see her.
Of course, these assertions are based on preconceptions; not all anime portray overweight characters in the same light. A character’s weight doesn’t have to determine their entire personality, despite the fact that it isn’t a regular occurrence.
The overweight anime characters in the following list range from the most offensive to the most sympathetic.
In many ways, Hanako epitomizes the stereotype of the chubby anime girl. Overweight to the point of being inflated, she can’t stand anyone who comes in the way of a good meal. In spite of her large size, she is conceited and boastful.
Real Drive is on the other end of the spectrum from Ohtani. There are no too huge characters in this anime, only more realistically proportioned than conventional anime characters. Because of its “big” characters, however, public reaction to the anime was mostly unfavorable, with many criticizing it for being “boring.” It appears that Minamo Aoi has been particularly hard hit by the public’s reaction to her performance.
Milluki is the classic overweight guy anime character. Otaku and innovator in one: he’s the best of both worlds. I don’t know why he never leaves the house. He is egotistical and short-tempered. He’s so similar to Ohtani that he may be his twin.
Haruyuki is one of the few overweight anime characters, but when he’s given the opportunity, he transforms into a slender android-looking avatar known as the Silver Crow. Haruyuki, although being the protagonist of the anime, is still a harassed social outcast who spends much of his time playing video games because of his size. Aside from the pink pig appearance, his second in-game avatar resembles how his friends and many of the show’s viewers perceive him.
The way Kouta is shown, you’d think he’s a standard overweight anime character. Gun otaku, crush on girls (who don’t love him back), and being teased at school because of his height are all traits that characterize him. Because Kouta is based on a real person with the same name as the manga-ka and author of Hellsing, he stands apart from the rest of the characters in the anime world. As a result, he has a sense of reality and humanity that sets him apart from other large-scale anime characters.
Rather of being a cruel witch, the Witch of the Waste is a manifestation of evil. When it comes to appearances, the Witch is a stickler. She employs magic to make herself appear young and attractive, despite the fact that she is an enormous lady. When it comes to being an adversary, she is not because she is overweight; rather, it’s because of her desire to be attractive in the way society expects.
Porco Rosso’s weight is due to the fact that he is a pig. However, he wasn’t always a pig, and his new form appears to better fit him than his human one. Even though Porco’s physique lends him a unique perspective on the human condition, it doesn’t stop him from yearning for love. Porco may be a chubby anime character, but his chubby mug is the star of the show.
Takeo isn’t overweight; rather, he’s built with a large frame and a lot of muscle. Even while he’s lean, his hulking frame nevertheless intimidates others due to his threatening demeanor. This doesn’t stop Takeo from being a kind giant. As luck would have it, he’s found a girl who can see him as the lovely and unselfish person that she is.
When it comes to his size and stature, both Josuke and Takeo are underappreciated. Women are put off by his enormous frame, even if he is friendly. Like Takeo, Josuke exploits his size to his advantage in battle, but he has the added bonus of being able to stretch and shrink like elastic. Rejections are more difficult to deflect than weapons.
Chouza and his son Chouza may have a passion for food, but that’s about where their similarities end. Both Chouji and his father have mastered the art of combat, despite the fact that Chouji has had to deal with a fair amount of mockery because of his enormous stature. The two fighters’ fighting strategies rely on their massive stature to their advantage, making them fearsome adversaries.
Buu transforms into a variety of different forms throughout the course of the series by absorbing the essence of others. His personality can be summed up in any of his guises. Innocent and lovable, the chubby, pudgy version is also becoming more ferocious and leaner as he gains power. Chubbyness imbues Buu with a baby-like appearance and demeanor.
Kosaku appears and acts like a child, yet he has a smart mind hidden beneath his naive façade. Even if he doesn’t understand the implications, he invented the breakthrough new technology that allows people to enter the dreams of others. Aside from being good with computers and having a massive appetite, Kosaku fulfills many of the stereotypical characteristics of the overweight anime character. Despite his bulk, this man manages to stand out from the crowd and win the heart of a stunning woman.
Hashida appears to be a typical overweight anime character at first glance. In addition to being a talented computer programmer, he is an obsessive fan of digital women and a little narcissistic. He is one of the best overweight anime characters since he isn’t any of those things. A normal man who enjoys computers, anime, and a little extra weight.
One of the top high school basketball coaches in Japan is Mitsuyoshi, despite his huge physique. Some of the basketball players under Mitsuyoshi’s tutelage refer to him as the “White-Haired Buddha” because of his large belly, which he periodically jiggles. Mitsuyoshi is one of the best-loved overweight anime characters because none of this is malicious and is done in a lighthearted manner.
Tamako is clearly overweight, and she enjoys a nice dinner. The anime, on the other hand, doesn’t give much attention to her size, save for a few surprised expressions when she drops a few pounds. This should be the case for Tamako, as she’s just Tamako, and that’s exactly how it ought to be.

Although anime is filled with beautiful, thin people, every once in a while, there are some series that offer a break from the norm.
Find out what happens when anime adds a fat character.
As people come in many shapes and sizes, so do anime characters .
Today, I want to focus on those that are inclined towards the shape of a circle.
In all seriousness, I think it’s great to have some larger characters in the mix.
My chubby homies are worthy of representation.
These characters are often funny, joyful, engaging, and have a lot to offer.
There has been an increase in the number of different shapes and sizes added to a cast, creating a more humanistic and relatable experience for viewers.
Despite all the boom boom pow and bass, some girls on this list are memorable for their unique personalities.
Name an anime main character who is overweight. Most likely not, as there are few of them.
The majority of “fat” characters in anime are stereotypes. They can be food lovers, nerds , or jokers.
This is just when the character is overweight.
Some characters, such as Kanako Mimura of Cinderella Girls or Koyomi Mikuhara from Azumanga Daioh, are not visibly larger than the rest, but their slight extra weight causes them to obsess about losing weight.
Because of the Asian culture’s perception of fat, this negativity is common.
Japan’s obesity rate is less than 5%, while Japan’s overweight rate is less than 25% ( compared to America’s 32% & 66%, respectively ).
It’s not bad to be overweight in Japan. This is just an unusual situation.
It makes sense then that culture with so few overweight people would also have very few overweight characters.
Anime tends to fall back upon stereotyping when they do make an appearance.
Stereotypically, a male anime character is overweight and loves food.
He is also a nerd (sometimes both otaku and computers) and is often an outcast from society.
This is true even if the male character is young.
In anime, thicker adult males are often considered serious officials (policemen or politicians).
Stereotypically, a female anime character is overweight and loves food. Her personality changes with weight.
Visibly obese girls tend to be greedy and mean, while chubby girls can be sweet and kind.
A fat adult woman is either trying to fit into the pants of a young boy in high school or someone’s mother.
These statements are stereotypical – not all anime depict overweight characters in the same way.
Although it’s not common, many examples show how extra weight does not have to be a part of a character’s personality.
Hanako is the perfect example of the stereotypical fat anime girl .
Hanako is comically obese and can eat anything that’s in her way.
Despite her size, she is arrogant and vain.
The story does, however, take viewers on a journey and presents a variety of situations in which girls and boys find themselves in difficult situations.
This adds some humour to the story.
Hanako Ootani, who plays the supporting role of Hanako Ootani, is known as a gal with a deep passion for food.
She’s also a woman who can get a man and turn him down in a flash.
Hanako’s personality and size convey the message that “if you have it, flaunt.”
He might seem more powerful when he’s all slim and ripped.
He is also a bit of a jerk. Good Buu was close friends with Hercule.
It is also possible for him to turn you into chocolate, or another confectionary, and eat you.
Kid Buu can also destroy other planets and pursue you in the afterlife to permanently eliminate your existence.
My boy Good Buu wanted to fight him to protect Hercule.
A wise meme lord said, “He protects, He attacks, He turns you into an acc.”
Aoba Shunsuke was surrounded by many women and girls for most of his adult life.
Shunsuke decides that he needs a change in the way he lives.
He transfers to Sunshine Academy, an all-male school .
Sunshine Academy recently made the transition to co-ed attendance, much to his dismay.
Shunsuke meets Natsumi Asaoka when he arrives at the academy.
She is a tall female student, but he is surprised by her kindness.
Surprisingly, they quickly get along. Shunsuke is bold and brash.
His life at the new school will be an unforgettable one.
Natsumi’s cup size is why she is called “L”. Natsumi is also a lot bigger than Shunsuke.
They make a great couple, Shunsuke & Natsumi.
He has worked at his family’s lingerie shop for many years.
Natsumi eventually helps Shunsuke to get over his awkwardness.
The adorable couple also proves that there’s no limit to the word “beautiful couples”.
On the opposite side of Ohtani is Real Drive.
The characters in the anime are not particularly large, but they are more realistically proportioned to anime than in other anime.
The anime received a negative reception from the public, with many criticizing its “large” characters and unappealing designs.
Minamo Aoi seemed to be the most affected by the reactions of others.
You might be confused if you have just watched the series.
However, I believe that it is equally difficult to write a great antagonist as a loving protagonist .
This is why you’ll see some baddies on this list. But oh boy.
Takaoka is the anime character I fear most.
This man is the second coming to Satan.
He is not very powerful, as we can see him being beaten quite often. But he is a cruel man.
The picture of his old squad, which shows his true colours, sent chills down my spine.
I hate him so bad that I have to give props to the writers.
The year 2061 AD. The Network society was created to allow people to connect at a deeper level.
There are always complications with new developments.
There are many problems with the new infrastructure, including personal data leaks and information fabrication.
These problems are now known, but the majority of the population prefers to live with them rather than abandon the Network society.
As a solution, “the Metal”, a new network was created that provides better protection.
Metal is now a greater threat than ever, affecting every aspect of our lives and rendering us powerless to distinguish reality from Metal.
See how cyber-divers expertly investigate this dangerous situation.
Minamo Aoi is close friends with Yukino Ito, her classmate. Minamo started as an intern at EISF and then became a full-time employee.
Her friendship with Yukino, Sayama, and Yukino is what keeps her grounded.
The trio can be seen enjoying a variety of activities and eating out at many restaurants throughout the series.
Yukino’s distinctive appearance is not like Minamo or Sayama and does not cause her to be stressed.
They enjoy spending quality time together and are less concerned about keeping their appearances.
Milluki is the stereotypical fat male anime character.
He is both an otaku (two-in-one!) and a skilled inventor.
He is a selfish, short-tempered individual who never leaves his home.
This is a controversial choice because her weight changes and fluctuates more frequently than the Monogatari timeline.
However, my stance on this matter is that if someone can eat ten times their own weight in food, they belong here.
Charmy is such a charming little goof that I love every scene with her.
She can be anything from wanting to eat the spirits and wind to be the most powerful woman in the show.
Charmy does sometimes get bogged down in the “food is all” stereotype, but it isn’t overbearing.
Genshiken (the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture) is a group that combines all aspects of otaku culture.
You can pick your favorite each member has an interest in a specific aspect of otaku culture, reminding us of all the joys and obsessions that go along with our geeky community.
The second season begins on a fresh, positive note as Genshiken’s returning members try to recruit new members.
The club gains four new members as the semester begins.
Veteran members are concerned about the club’s new direction.
Is the club now known as the “rotten girls club”, or will they continue to share their love for otaku culture?
Mirei “Yajima” Yajimma was one of the recruits who was drawn in by Ogiue’s BL posters.
She is a fujoshi, and she is identical to the rest of the group.
She is a stocky, overweight woman who dresses in gender-neutral clothes.
Yaji became more self-conscious about her appearance after Kenjirou Hato arrived.
Yaji is a good example of someone who shows insecurity when confronted with a confident person.
Haruyuki, one of the main characters of the anime universe, is overweight.
But when given the option, he transforms into Silver Crow, an android-looking avatar.
