Members of the University of Nottingham Men's Hockey Club even posed for a picture with "No more homophobia" painted on their bare chests
A university sports team have become an online sensation after raising awareness for an anti-homophobia campaign by playing a hockey match - completely NAKED.
The hunky students bared all to be filmed for a cheeky five-a-side game which has already gone viral after being viewed over 153,000 times in just two days.
Featuring 17 members of the University of Nottingham Men's Hockey Club the lads can be seen stripping off their usual match gear during the two minute long video.
The buff students then crouch on the astroturf pitch in their birthday suits with just hockey sticks to protect their modesty before playing a match completely starkers.
They also pose for a series of nude photos before the video ends with a team shot of the boys with "No homophobia in sport" painted across their bare chests.
The raunchy video - which features members from all five of the uni's hockey teams - was released on Wednesday.
It proved an instant hit with over 80,000 Youtube views in just 24 hours and has since being shared thousands of times on Twitter and Facebook.
On Friday, former president of the hockey club, Chris Collier, 21, said the players were happy to bare all to make a stand against homophobia.
He added: "I got a message asking if we were interested and got about 20 replies from the lads in just 10 minutes so everyone was pretty keen to help.
"It's an important cause and it's at the forefront of sporting issues at the moment so we wanted to do our bit."
Player Piers Denning, 22 ,a fourth year chemical engineering student, said: "When we were approached to make the film we were more than happy to do it and didn't think twice about saying yes.
"On the day of filming it's fair to say we were a little bit apprehensive at first, but as soon as we stripped off it was fine. We had so much fun.
"It was an absolutely freezing day so there was some hesitation to actually get naked but it just made it even more of a laugh.
"Everyone was in stitches all the way through filming.
"Personally I've never done anything like this before but seeing the reaction to the video definitely makes me glad I agreed to strip off.
"Homophobia is something that's been an issue in sport for a long time, and something all of us were aware of.
"For us sport is such a huge part of our university life and it should be available to everyone, without people feeling they have to hide who they are."
The idea was the brainchild of the University of Nottingham student-led Voice Your Rights Project who aim to raise awareness of human rights.
Project leader Dimitri Vichas, 25, a third year medical student, said: "We came up with the idea for the naked hockey match as we knew it would be popular.
"When we asked the club if they'd be up for it, they didn't hesitate at all.
"As soon as they arrived on the day of the filming they were asking 'when do we get to take our clothes off?' They couldn't wait.
"It was great to see them throwing themselves into it and the whole day was a lot of fun.
"Obviously there was a serious side to it too, and hopefully it has helped us to highlight that homophobia is still an issue in sport."
The University of Nottingham has declared a zero tolerance to homophobia in sport and Dimitri now wants other establishments to follow suit.
He added: "I am gay myself and I have a huge love and passion for sports.
"I have been involved in sports since I can remember myself and even though I haven't been personally got discriminated I know that many gay people do get discriminated in sports.
"There is a general fear of coming out while in sports because others may perceive you as weak or not sporty or competitive enough.
"I just wanted to try to work to end this wrong perception and stigma.
"We hope this video will help spread the message, we've certainly had a great reaction so far.
"Eventually I'd like to see all universities in the country declare a zero tolerance to homophobia in sport."

The girls turned heads on the Mystery where they took some of the racy snaps
A brave group of Liverpool students got their kit off for a nude calendar - and turned heads among dog walkers in a city park.
The University of Liverpool Women’s Rugby League have launched their 2018 charity calendar , featuring pictures of scantily-clad squad members baring all for a good cause.
Raunchy snaps taken on the Docks and Wavertree’s Mystery park all form part of the special calendar release - intended to raise money for Joining Jack, a charity dedicated to finding a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The girls stripped off in chilly conditions to get the snaps - and their naked calendar shoot turned a lot of heads on the Mystery.
The club’s social secretary said: “It was cold. Really cold. We tried to do it really early in the morning, about seven o’clock, but it was when all the dog walkers were there.
“You got a lot of faces turning and people who were trying not to look but going around the park in a loop!”
She said it wasn’t hard to convince the team to strip off for the calendar.
She added: “We’re quite a small, close team so when someone said yes, everyone else started to follow because we’re so supportive of each other. When we were doing it, it was a laugh.
“We did it in our changing rooms, in Wavertree Park and some by the docks.”
The squad is hoping to raise £2,000 from calendar sales, and their social secretary admitted everyone in the family would be receiving one as a Christmas present.
She said: “Everyone has been really supportive and really helpful. We’ve had other societies contacting us and asking if they can help.”
As well as raising money for charity, the naked calendar is intended to “encourage women to embrace and love their bodies.”
A post on the team’s website says: “We want women to love their bodies no matter what shape or size they are. We hope our calendar shows that even as university students, we all have lines and saggy bits, and that’s fine!”
