Desert planet, Co-ordinates N 5, E 38....by far the most open area i've seen so far. Would love to find a good build plain like this for the 2nd and 3rd planets, too
Ridiculously open, pretty sure you're going to hit the building limit before you get anywhere near filling the map.
Got a 120 person colony at the moment and barely used up 10-15% of the buildable area.
"Ridiculously open" is the right word. *Excellent* starting place, once things were rolling, I could extend my base without any trouble, in any direction. And plenty of "little mountains" to spread your mines, just perfect.
Too bad there isn't a 1000-colonist base achievement because I'm sure I could easily do it here ;)
For class F (frozen) try around N10 E94, lots of valleys and very decent spaces
Thread necromancy, sorry but only playing this game as of today.Excellent suggestion. The flast space available is HUGE. managed to get to the 300 colonists without any space issue, and had easily room for 300 more.Plus you have mini-mountains in the middle, allowing for mines to be places at center of your colony. Really nice spot, thanks.
BTW, you can press F2 to see your coords.
If you're looking for a large uninterrupted area give N10/E25 a try. http://postimg.org/image/5s9l2s92h/
The rocks in the middle can be build over so you can easily have a neatly aligned 6 by 6 grid of the largest domes. Good for the OCDers among us.
I'm fond of N60 E120 (on the desert planet), though it's not quite as open as some... I mainly chose it for the roundness of the coordinates.
On the desert planet S 42, E 69 has an enormous playing area.
They just it as a random seed, I wonder how many numbers after the decimal they use, like can you actually get the same seed?
When you choose which planet to play, you can spin the planet around to hone in on a target landing site. You can either use someone else's coordinates, or find a wide + bright red location to touch down on for a more open space on the accessible planet.
no, its not random...the same co-ordinates are the same map every time

I'm going to have to disagree with you and say N19 E161 is a much better starting location.

It´s so unnessessary and not really important for gaming. if you have not the idea or the inspiration for a good start, regardless of the location, then you have nowhere a good location to start.

Some seeds are unplayable, but so far I've only seen two. As long as you have some buildable land then it really doesn't matter what kind of terrain it is. Of course, unless you want to build something unique. In that case you need a certain kind of map. But for normal gameplay over 99,999% of the seeds are sufficient (n = ~50, p < 0,05)

Do you guys have a screenshot ? I'm looking for a really wide area

Any big open space near a corner. The corner is your mining site. Expand out from there. If there's another coner nearby, that's your trading port with multiple air locks and land pads (start ports) that must need to pass a big security control before they can go anywhere in you base.

S1 w70 IS ONE that i use and there is loads literally, of space.

does anyone know if the stats for location actually vary when you are selecting starting points? eg the Solar Flare chance, atmosphere for turbines ,etc (and if so, on which planets please?) im only on planet 1, with 3 milestones so far, but everywhere i rotate to, doesnt seem to change any of those?

I don't know if this helps anyone but I had a really great game at the first planet location S53 W21 ... I was able to really learn a lot there and expand more than ever before. I want to return there for my next game and try to do even better. Great spread, lots of different directions to go in.

[N 0 E or W 175 ] Work for me Every planets Hope this coord is useful to you all!!!

If you have good coords for a nice spacious open area for the new Storm planet, share them here!
N 0, E 68 good space. have finished it with all the 10 milestones, but you will take up the whole space.
Not a bad spot, though it looks like it's quite narrow. I think every spot you go to on this planet is going to be pretty cramped. So far I seem to have a good setup myself on N0W106
S60 E153 is great. Easily fitted 300 population, probably could have done 500 at a squeeze. Best storm planet co-ordinates I have found so far.
Been struggling to find a decent landing spot for quite some time now, and this is a very nice spot! Thanks for the tip!

BEST SEEDS / COORDINATES FOR DESERT PLANET PLEASE?
