Pitch already has a lot of things going for it: a complex female character (Ginny Baker, played wonderfully by Kylie Bunbury) at the center of the show about the first woman to play Major League Baseball, a surprising twist , juicy drama, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar's glorious beard . Despite all that, Fox's sports drama upped the ante on Thursday night when it had the fictional San Diego Padre players strip down for a naked photo shoot in the season's seventh episode, "San Francisco." The episode highlights how Ginny's teammates support her after the fallout of her nude photo scandal, agreeing to pose for the risqué photos as an act of solidarity.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , Gosselaar described how much work went into filming the scene and joked about the results. "Looking back on it from an acting standpoint, you think, 'Oh my God, I've got to get nude? Are you kidding me? I have to start working out harder. I have to diet. Oh sh*t!'" he said. "I didn't see the entire team's photos, but I got to see a preview of Kylie Bunbury, Mo [McRae], and myself. I was pretty happy with myself, but not so much with Mo. I think he could've done better. I'm kidding. But I was pretty happy with the outcome. I thought, 'Damn, that looks good.' I'm speaking about Kylie, not myself, by the way. I would never say that about myself."
Given our love for Gosselaar , we're definitely not complaining.

Kylie Bunbury Talks Complex Female Character on "Pitch"
Who knew baseball could be so scandalous?
Mark-Paul Gosselaar and the rest of the Pitch cast posed naked for teaser photos ahead of Thursday night's episode, and if you weren't watching the show already you might want to start tuning in. The Saved by the Bell alum posed nude save for a little coverage courtesy of protective kneepads.
The rest of the cast joined in for a naked group photo in which the (fictional) members of the San Diego Padres pose only with their mitts and bats. The risqué promo photos come on the heels of an earlier episode in the season in which the main character, Ginny Baker ( Kylie Bunbury ), had to deal with the repercussions of a nude photo scandal. As an act of solidarity, her teammates posed naked.
Pitch tells the story of the MLB's first female player and the criticism she faced. As time goes by, however, her male teammates begin to become protective of her and the show starts to focus on the relationships between the teammates instead of the sport. Gosselaar told E! News he could relate to his mentor-like character in more ways than one.
"I think I've walked onto set every time like that, I'm going to be honest with you. I understand the anxiety that comes with it," he said. "The need to succeed, to make everyone believe that you belong there. Those are things that I still struggle with to this day when I walk onto a set…"
Pitch airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.

The steamy pics were the result of Thursday night’s episode of the Fox sports drama, which centered around Ginny ( Kylie Bunbury ) facing a PR crisis when some scandalous old photos are leaked to the public.

Now Reading Pitch 's Stars Strip Down
Women in sports can have a hard time, and Pitch is working to make sure sports fans recognize it. Instead of letting the show's main character Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury) be objectified as a beautiful woman on a sports cover, the show's male supporting actors stepped up to pose nude, too.
Nude photos have been a talking point on Pitch for a while. We know Ginny snapped a few for an ex, and we know his iCloud was hacked, leaving the images vulnerable to a leak. It's one more sexist trope of being a woman in athletics: women players are judged unfairly for their behavior outside of the baseball stadium.
This week, though, Pitch pushed back against shaming. Instead of lecturing Ginny on her personal life, the teammates showed up to support her. In fact, they started a nude photo scandal of their own: the men posed naked with Ginny for ESPN the Magazine ’s Body Issue.
Online, Pitch fans were happy that the show is working to dismantle the sexist double standards.
After the episode aired, Pitch star Mark-Paul Gosselaar shared another mostly-nude photo, this time from the two actors who play the team's crotchety coaches:
