Pics are fine (answer to https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/pnp.ru/template57/issue1/)

@gabrieleguerrisi

The url you mentioned in the other issue effectively looks ugly in the IV:
https://telegra.ph/file/71c1cff6fae8ebdccbcde.png
Moreover it is very optional in that case, just an ugly logo in the text.

In our case it is not: it is a pic about the owner of the thoughts written in all the /opinion/ pages, and somewhere also in some incet div around in articles with their comments. Why to delete?
This is not the same scenario, my image is in a table and in the linked case that image is actually rudimentary, here is not. It is relatively important to show a profile.

I agree that they cannot be left as <img> since they are without an high res, but is not wrong thus to replace it with <pic>. Also the href link they have is preserved (even if already present in the rest of the text).

They are photo-profiles, I think they are important enough to be left (and I'd say - it's dev's choice what to do in such cases, but not mandatory if common sense is respected).
About the high res rules in the checklist (saying that images with only low res should be removed or page not generated at all) - I think it should be considered for images like screenshots or whatever needs to be seen at a certain res (cover img, contents, etc.). Do we need profile pics at 1200x800px? I don't think so. They are important enough (they add visive information about the owner of the words, note, not about who wrote them, the author is a different person in most cases and written at the bottom without a class to let it be extracted safely), but just in <pics> are fine (since no higher res is given in here).

If nothing could be done - the better thing would be to remove them. But I think my solution with a table is clean and nice. Follow some screenshot from the preview on Telegram to show the results:
