Natasha Wagner is a 34-year-old model from Los Angeles, who for the past 12 years, has been helping denim companies craft the ideal fit for their jeans. Standing at 5-foot-8, Wagner is a “perfect size six” with a 28-inch waist, which sits right in the middle of the fashion industry’s standard size range, typically running from a 24 to a 32.
Although she’s tall and relatively thin, Wagner has just the right amount of curve to her figure to supposedly make her the ultimate average representation of all women’s butts. The model, who has helped brands such as Levi’s, 7 For All Mankind, Paige Denim, and Citizens of Humanity create the perfect fit, tells Vogue :
“If you fit jeans on a very small size, a size 24, the model is going to be very thin and not have a lot of butt and not give the pattern any shape, which would then flatten the bottom of a size 32 customer,” Wagner explains. Likewise, if you start out with a large size, a size 32, it will have too much curve for smaller, less shapely customers. “So if you start in the middle, my size, it means the jeans will fit almost anyone in that range,” she said.
