Phantom Wood, also known as End Times Wood or Lone Cave Wood is a species of wood that was added during the 2016 End Times Update. It is located in the End Times Biome and is the most expensive wood in the game when sold at the Wood Dropoff.
It has an institutional white sand texture for its bark, and previously had a light yellow smooth plastic texture for its interior, before being changed to the institutional white foil texture. On lower render qualities, the foil texture will be toned down until being entirely removed, rendering it as a smooth plastic material. Its leaves have a toothpaste neon texture. It is roughly 1x0.5 studs in size, similar to that of the Test Wood tree. It is one of four woods that has an interior with a different material type.
The tree's overall structure is a dense mix of leaves and intertwining branches that thicken as it matures. The tree also grows extraordinarily fast during its primary growth stages if it is not generated on Server Initialization.
Only a maximum of 1 tree can grow at one time, so after being harvested the player must server-hop to find another tree. Despite the misconception that the tree only grows "once" per server, within the code it can grow again after a player waits 7200 minutes or 120 hours after the tree had been initially planted and the previous tree had died or been cut down.
The End Times Axe is the only axe that can cut the wood, as using other axes will make it fall out of the player's hand in a similar effect to when the Candy Cane Axe is used on any wood. The Chop Saw also does not do any damage to the wood's log. Surprisingly, Dynamite can do damage to the tree, but it is incredibly minimal and should not be used as a method of harvesting or cutting in general.
Before proceeding, the player is required to have these items:
It is also recommended to have the following things:
Once the required items have been acquired, the player must follow these steps to have a successful and effective harvest:
Private servers are the best places to harvest Phantom Wood, as public servers the tree may have already been harvested or other players will intentionally extend the bridge time. It should be noted that using Phantom Wood as a source of income is generally impractical as the costs of the necessary items for harvesting, the required allocation of time, and the uncertain outcome outweighs the actual monetary value one can get from selling the planks at the Wood Dropoff heavily.

In the Overworld at nighttime or during thunderstorms, when player has not attempted to enter a bed for 3+ ingame days
Phantoms are flying undead hostile mobs that spawn when the player has not slept or died for three or more in-game days.
Phantom spawning is similar to other monsters spawning: the spawn location must have a light level of 7 or less, and spawns are limited by the monster population cap. Phantoms are also subject to a density cap of 5.[dubious] Phantom spawn attempts are made on surface blocks throughout the same spawn radius as other monsters. However, when a phantom spawn attempt succeeds the phantom appears somewhere in a 21Γ15Γ21 cube centered 28 blocks above the player instead of at the block where the spawn attempt occurred.
Phantoms attempt to spawn every 1β2 minutes. They spawn only if it is night or a thunderstorm is happening, the player is above sea level (y=64) with sky access, and the local difficulty is greater than a randomly chosen value between 0.0 and 3.0. The chance of a successful spawn is xβ72000βx, where x is the number of ticks since the player last entered a bed or died. This roughly comes to a 1β4 (25.0%) chance on day 4, a 2β5 (40.0%) chance on day 5, a 3β6 (1β2) (50.0%) chance on day 6, 4β7 (about 57.1%) chance on day 7, and so on.
If all conditions are met, a group of phantoms attempt to spawn 20β34 blocks above the player, and off to the side by a taxicab distance of up to 10 blocks. The number of phantoms spawned is 1-2 in Easy difficulty, 1-3 in Normal, and 1-4 in Hard.
Phantoms are counted toward the hostile mob cap, but they don't adhere to it when spawning. Their spawning mechanic is based on the location of players in the world rather than by chance, unlike regular mob spawning.
Phantoms are able to move through water at their normal speed and cannot drownβ[JE only].
A phantom's body disappears when under the Invisibility effect, but its eyes and smoke particles are still visible.
Like zombies and skeletons, phantoms burn in sunlight.
Cats hiss at phantoms that are currently attacking players, and phantoms try to stay at least 16 blocks away from them. In Bedrock Edition, phantoms also avoid ocelots in the same manner.
Like other undead mobs, phantoms are harmed by the Instant Health effect, healed by the Instant Damage effect, immune to the Poison and Regeneration effects, ignored by the wither, and affected by the Smite enchantment.
Phantoms have entity data associated with them that contains various properties.
