Le village de Granadilla en Espagne a été évacuée par prévention dans les années 60 par les autorités espagnoles. Cet endroit devait être frappé par les inondations, or ça n’a jamais été le cas.
Granadilla est un joli village fortifié chargé d’histoire. Autrefois, les habitants avaient l’occasion de déambuler dans des petites rues étroites et ils pouvaient observer le château de la ville. Or, depuis les années 60, ce n’est plus le cas, rapporte la BBC . En 1955, après la construction du réservoir de Gabriel y Galán, sur la rivière Alagón, les autorités franquistes avaient décrété que le village se situait dans une zone inondable, pourtant près de 70 ans plus tard, aucune inondation n’a été à déplorer. Les 1.000 riverains occupant les lieux à l’époque n’ont pas été évacués, mais expulsés, entre 1959 et 1969. Certes, l’eau est montée et n’a laissé qu’un seul accès au village, mais ce dernier n’a jamais été inondé. Malgré cela, les habitants de Granadilla n’ont jamais reçu l’aval des autorités pour revenir y vivre.
Pour les riverains, cette phase d’expulsion a été difficile à vivre et l'amertume est encore tenace concernant cette politique menée. Eugenio Jimenez, président de l'Association Fils de Granadilla, se souvient avec amertume : "Ils nous ont chassés en prétendant que le barrage inonderait la ville, ce qui était impossible car la ville est plus haute que le barrage ." S’il constate également qu’à l’époque de la dictature franquiste , les habitants n’avaient aucun droit, il déplore que la situation n’ait jamais été modifiée par la suite. Une ancienne habitante de Granadilla, Purificación Jiménez, se rappelle avec émotion : " Je me souviens que chaque fois qu'une famille quittait le village, tout le monde se présentait à l'entrée du village pour dire au revoir et pleurait ."
Si aucune politique n’a permis aux familles de réintégrer le village à plein temps, les visiteurs peuvent désormais se rendre dans la commune fortifiée. Granadilla a été nommé site historique et culturel en 1980. Des excursions d’une journée permettent aux curieux d’observer ce village fantô
