Petite Maison
The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood. Dr. Montessori’s Method has been time tested, with over 100 years of success in diverse cultures throughout the world.
It is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child—physical, social, emotional, cognitive.

Petite Maison Montessori school is now on AMS Pathway Step 9: All of its lead teachers hold Montessori credentials and it incorporates all 5 core components of quality Montessori education . The school has submitted proof of compliance with School Accreditation Instituitional and Instructional Standards, and has completed a strategic plan for continuing improvement.
The AMS school accreditation process has several distinct components:
Application Application review and candidacy determination Self-study and report Onsite visit and report Review by the AMS School Accreditation Commission and the AMS Board of Directors The 2 components of the accreditation process that draw most heavily on the school’s time and effort are the self-study and the onsite visit.
The Self-Study AMS accreditation begins with an intensive self-study that involves the school’s entire community: staff, faculty, administration, parents, board members (if applicable), and sometimes, even students. During the self-study, the school examines and documents every aspect of its program and processes: governance, curriculum, fiscal and personnel policies, facilities, health and safety practices, teacher preparation, and learner outcomes. The school self-identifies areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. The school collects its findings in a written report and submits it to AMS.
Many candidates for AMS school accreditation find the self-study one of the most valuable parts of the process. Not only is it a period of thoughtful examination, discovery, and, oftentimes, enlightening mindset shifts, it helps strengthen the community as one whose stakeholders are united by shared values, aspirations, and commitments.
The Onsite Visit At the end of the self-study period, the school hosts a team of peers from other AMS-accredited schools for an onsite visit. A major objective of the visit is to determine whether the school seeking accreditation is in compliance with AMS Standards & Criteria. The visit includes document review, observations, and interviews. The culmination of the onsite visit is a report, prepared by the team, in which they summarize their findings for review by the AMS School Accreditation Commission and AMS Board of Directors.
The onsite visit offers an invaluable opportunity to gain insight from other well-regarded leaders in the community. Typically, it is seen as a joyous affirmation of the many wonderful things the school is doing well and a helpful guide for future improvements.

Petite Maison Montessori School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national or ethnic origin, genetic information, disability, age or any other class protected by law, in administration of its policies, practices or procedures, including admission of students, tuition assistance, and educational services.
The Montessori Method nurtures order, coordination, concentration, and independence in children from the moment they enter the classroom. Classroom design, materials, and daily routines support the student’s emerging self-regulation—the ability to educate oneself, and to think about what one is learning—from toddlers through adolescents. The sequence of Montessori lessons aligns well, and in many cases exceeds, state learning standards, ensuring that children are introduced to complex learning concepts through hands-on experiences that leads to deep understanding.
The Montessori curriculum is intentionally grouped into 3-year cycles, rather than broken out into year-by-year expectations for student learning. This respects the fact that children develop and master academic topics at different speeds, and that in reality, children often work in particular content areas in spurts. The teacher supports the child’s growth through all areas of the curriculum to ensure that he or she is exposed to the full sequence of lessons in each area and to provide support and new challenge as needed
The Toddler Classroom at Petite Maison consists of children ages 18 months to 35 months with a 3 and 5 day program, either half day or full day. In this classroom, children engage in social experiences, self-eating and table habits, toilet learning, and independence. We also prepare them for introductory concepts in Language, Math, Sensorial, Practical Life, Art, and Music.
At Petite Maison, the Primary classrooms range in age from 3 to 6 years old. We offer half day or full day programs, 5 days a week. In our Primary Classrooms are divided into 5 areas practical life, sensorial, math, science, and language.
Language: Language emphasis on vocabulary building. It begins when the child enters the classroom for the first time.
Petite Maison is an AMS-affiliated Montessori school committed and passionate about using the Montessori principles to create the optimal learning environment for your child. As every child is different and has a unique quality of their own, Montessori education is a child-centered approach that has proven time and time again to give children a thorough and meaningful education. At Petite, we offer a strong academic curriculum in our beautiful, open and spacious environment that challenges and encourages the children to self-direct their learning with the guidance of certified faculty.
We aim to provide an outstanding and authentic Montessori environment as per the guidelines of The American Montessori Society (AMS) to cater to the child’s developmental needs and follow their pace. In addition to academic progress, we strive to foster in our children the lifelong characteristic of peace, intrinsic discipline, love of learning, social skills, independence, and genuine curiosity. We emphasize timeless life skills, such as problem solving, integrity, grace and courtesy, and self-expression. Our children work hard to develop the knowledge and the skills to care for themselves, their community, and their environment and we are here to guide them along the path.
Every day it is an honor and opportunity to watch children grow into individual, self-reliant and confident human beings, who are bursting with knowledge, curiosity, imagination, and strong personality of their own. I feel amazed and inspired by the power and potential of each child and I am proud to be a part of this process.
Here at Petite Maison, we understand that every child is capable of so much more than what they are often given credit for because we observe them grow every day and we believe in their potential to succeed in whatever path they choose. Imagine a child who is encouraged to explore and make discoveries via channeling their potential and who grows up to be a capable, engaging and confident adult. That is the kind of child we hope to foster and guide here at Petite. In other words, we are here to help shape incredible minds who just might one day change the world.
Please come and see the magic for yourself.
