Way back in November, we finally were able to place a name to a face—er, a bag—when Louis Vuitton released information on one of its most anticipated new styles. We saw the Petite Boîte Chapeau in the hands of celebs and Instagram style stars for months, but the public wasn’t privy to any of its details until the bag appeared on Louis Vuitton’s website . You guys certainly had a lot to say about this little bag, from the functionality of it to the price; many of you thought this bag was a hard no, and while I agree with some of your reasoning, I still love to look at this bag. It’s beautiful in its simplicity, and I adore how it’s derived from a classic Louis Vuitton hat box. While getting my hands on this beautiful little bag might have been a teeny bit self-motivated, today I’ve got a treat for you: a detailed look at the Petite Boîte Chapeau.
The first word that comes to mind when talking about the functionality of this bag is “structure”—it’s incredibly structured and has zero give, so you fit what you can jam in and then that’s pretty much it. There’s not much wiggle room at all for what you can and can’t carry. Additionally, you have to organize your stuff in such an odd way so that the bag will actually close. While its large enough to fit an iPhone 7, it won’t store larger models. I added in a small, super-thin card case with my credit card and ID, a lip balm, lipgloss, Chanel makeup compact and called it a day. Yep, that’s pretty much all I could comfortably jam in there, but let’s be honest now—if you’re carrying this bag, are you really doing it out of function? I’m going to guess no!
While this bag has many cons, including usability to its price— retail is $4,200 via Louis Vuitton —its stylistic details make up for all of that. I adore everything about the style of this bag, from its circular shape and classic monogram canvas to its removable luggage tag and optional crossbody strap. I would give up a lot to carry this bag, including a couple of months of my rent! I can’t actually do that, but if I could have it all this is definitely one I’d snag. The bag has a lambskin lining with lambskin gusseted sides so that when you open it up, your stuff won’t come out of the sides, which is definitely a plus. There are no pockets or internal slits, but again, this bag isn’t one I expected to have all the usual offerings of a bag that is easy to wear. Overall dimensions are 6.2″ x 5.9″ x 2.8″.

I am a huge sucker for something beautiful, expensive, and mostly useless.
I have this bag in classic monogram and I’m so in LOVE!!!! I smile whenever I carry it. Like the author mentioned in the article, I, too, am willing to give up a lot for PBC. In my case, it is to be minimalistic which I have trained myself for since buying the red mini Gucci Sylvie two years ago. Granted. The Sylvie is slightly more spacious than PBC. But, the latter had me at first sight.
