We cycled to Grand Anse. From Grand Anse we took the trail on the left at the restaurant. It’s the last stop to park your bike. It’s a 10-15 min hike depending on your fitness. Trail starts off easy with views of water and lush green tropical foliage. The last part on the trail you climb over and down a lot of rocks so wear steady shoes. After arriving at the beach we see there is no shade at 2:45 pm (there was shade at 3:00pm). the friendly coconut vendor approaches us and informs us that to use one of the makeshift palm frond huts (which accommodate 2 people, and we are 4 people, we must buy a coconut. We are discussing walking to the next beach, Anse Cocos and he says it is a 25 minute hike further. (We went later and it only took us 14 minutes). While we continue to discus what we will do, he walks away and says “I will bring you a coconut” He comes back five minutes later with the coconut and the fee is 100 SR! At this point the kids are inside the hut and so we pay the price of 7 euro. We visited in February, if you want shade then arrive at the beach after 3 pm. The beach is beautiful with many shades of blue, soft tan sand, lush greenery and boulders at the ends. There are strong shore break waves so not recommended for small children. No rocky coral that hurts your feet like on the west side of the island. The beach is just like Grand Anse so really no need to hike here unless grand anse is too crowded. You need shade to visit this beach or you will burn, don’t go before 3 pm unless you plan to pay the coconut vendor for a palm frond hut. No toilets or food here. …

Petite Anse Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on La Digue. About a 15-20 minute hike from Grand Anse Beach, the hike is well worth it as the views, beach itself and crowds. Petite Anse is a long, somewhat isolated beach. There are no trees so shade is a problem. But the positives far outweigh any other issues. There are few people here, even during heavy tourist times, so it feels like you are alone on this beach. As with any other beach here, take plenty of your own water and be sure to take your trash out with you. …

If you come to Grand Anse you should definitely also visit Petit Anse. There are not so many people and if you like swimming in waves and body surfing then this is what you should do. But you have to be careful because it can be quite violent waves.

This island will spoil you pretty quickly. There was a small covered area with a gentleman selling drinks. The walk from Grande Anse to Petite Anse is a bit of work up and over the rocks, but worth the effort.

Known as the sister beach to Grand Anse, the Petite Anse is a serene and less crowded beach of La Digue. Located near the Four Seasons Hotel, on the south-east coast of La Digue, the beach lies between Grand Anse and Anse Cocos. It receives a fraction of sunbathers because the waters aren't safe to swim due to high tide. However, it is the right spot for surfing.
