Petite Amie es el proyecto alterno de Carlos Medina, bajista de Little Jesus, que creó junto con Aline Terrein (voz), Isabel Dosal (voz), Santiago Fernández (bajo) y Jacobo Velazquez (guitarra). La banda de la Ciudad de México se formó en el 2020 para componer su primer LP. Hasta el momento han lanzado una serie de sencillos en preparación para el lanzamiento del álbum en octubre 2021.



Aunque regularmente se reúnen en Chimychanga Estudio para componer y grabar, lxs amigxs han encontrado fuentes de inspiración en distintos lugares de México, llevando sus instrumentos con ellxs al lugar en que se encuentren.



Las letras de sus canciones se caracterizan por la expresión de la angustia existencial generada por la búsqueda del “yo” en un mundo cada vez más impersonal, en donde la línea entre la realidad y lo virtual se cristaliza. En ese sentido, la música de Petite Amie fluctúa entre distintos géneros, tomando como base el rock pop psicodélico. Entre sus influencias principales, destacan clásicos como los Beatles y Pink Floyd, y sonidos más nuevos como Big Thief, Magic Potion, Unknown Mortal Orchestra y Crumb.

Petite Amie is Carlos Medina’s (bassist in Little Jesus) Mexico City-based alternate project. In 2020, Carlos (guitar) was joined by Aline Terrein (vocals), Isabel Dosal (vocals), Santiago Fernández (bass), and Jacobo Velazquez (guitar) to create their first LP. So far they have released a string of singles in preparation for the album’s release in October 2021.



Even though they usually get together in Chimychanga Estudio to write and record, the group of friends have found sources of inspiration in different places in Mexico, taking their instruments along with them.



Their lyrics are characterized by the expression of the existential angst generated by the search for the “self” in an increasingly impersonal world, where the line between what’s real and what’s virtual crystallizes. In this sense, Petite Amie’s music fluctuates between different genres, based on psychedelic pop-rock. Their main influences include classics like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and newer sounds such as Big Thief, Magic Potion, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Crumb.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out.
