For the first time, a group of researchers from UCLA and the University of New Mexico have used 3-D-printed phalluses to ascertain women's penis size preferences. Previous studies on the subject have asked women to state a length in centimeters or to select "small, medium, [or] large," as if they were ordering a side of French fries. Other experiments have presented women with 2-D drawings, but what is a penis, really, without the third dimension?

Men, it's time to chill about worrying that your penis isn't as long as an actual anaconda and as thick as a stack of paperbacks (or whatever). According to a study published today in peer-reviewed science journal PLOS One , women don't really prefer enormous penises. In fact, they like penises that are only slightly larger than average, and that preference can differ slightly depending on relationship context.

In the study, sexual psychophysiologist Dr. Nicole Prause and a team of researchers presented 75 women with pictures of 100 different erect penises (Overwhelming!) and the ladies narrowed their penis preferences to 33 disembodied members. Then, they 3-D-printed out those dongs (on blue plastic to "to minimize racial skin-color cues") and the women then put the penises into two categories: ones they'd prefer on a long-term partner and ones they'd prefer hanging from the bodies of a one-night stand. Man, I love science.
OK, since you are clearly dying for the results, here they are. For a LTR, women ideally want a length of 6.3 inches and circumference of 4.8 inches. For a one-night stand, they want 6.4 inches long and 5 inches around.
The takeaway is interesting, but it's important to keep in mind that (almost) all women prefer all sorts of different penis sizes and also the character of the penis-haver is about 50 million times more important than the width of the wang.

Scientists have been working to answer one of life's big questions — what is the ideal penis size? Now, a study from California can reveal women's preference when it comes to men's members — and the results are shocking
It's the question that men have been asking themselves for all eternity - what is the ideal penis size?
Now researchers at the University of New Mexico and the University of California claim to have found the answer to what women want.
In a groundbreaking study , the researchers used 3D models of erect phalluses to characterise women's penis size preferences for the first time.
75 women took part in the study, ranging in age from 18 to 65. They were California residents, sexually experienced, currently in a sexual relationship, and had had sex recently.
Each was shown 33 penis models - consisting of a cylinder, representing the shaft, topped by a dome, representing the penis head.
These ranged in size from 4.0 inches to 8.5 inches in length and 2.5 inches to 7.0 inches in circumference
The researchers then asked them to choose their favourite for a long-term relationship, and for a one-night stand.
They found that the average length women preferred for a long-term relationship was 6.3 inches, with a girth of 4.8 inches.
For one night stands, women preferred a slightly longer penis, with a length of 6.4 inches and a girth of 5.0 inches.
"Women preferred a larger penis size (especially a larger circumference) for one-time partners as compared to long-term partners," the researchers wrote in their report.
"While this preference for a larger phallus is above the average penis size, it is only very slightly above the average."
Since women's preferences for both relationship types were slightly larger than the average male, the preferred size for the one-time partner was farther from the average.
"Novelty itself contributes to pleasure, so seeking a more novel-sized penis may be consistent with a goal to pursue pleasure primarily in one-time partners," the researchers said.
"Women may prefer a smaller penis size in a long-term partner compared to a one-time partner for reasons of both physical comfort and a preference for less masculinity in a longer term partner."

So what is the perfect penis size ? It’s just one of those many questions that have plagued society since the beginning of time, but like anything else — the ideal size varies from person to person. To some women, it may seem to be less about length and more about girth , while others will openly admit to having size preferences. And, as studies have found, seven out of eight women are actually quite happy with the size of their man’s penis. Now, to add more confusion into the whole penis size debate, a new study came out revealing the women's penis size preferences. In this case, when it comes to size, context matters.
In the study published by PLOS One, researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Mexico took a 3-D printer and printed 33 models of different-sized penises in order to find out what women believe was an "acceptable" penis size. According to researchers, the idea behind having the 3-D printed phalluses would help women more accurately recall size as previous studies have typically relied on “abstract ratings or selecting amongst 2-D, flaccid images.” Additionally, researchers also wanted to see whether penis size preferences changed between one-night stands and long-term relationships.
In order to conduct their study, asked 75 women to select which of the 33 penises would be ideal for a one-night stand. Then, they asked them to pick another for a long-term relationship. Women were also asked to fill out questionnaires, which had questions about size preferences, their sexual history, and their current sexual functioning (i.e. ease of lubrication, orgasm rates, and intercourse pain, if any).
In order to make sure the women were certain of their choices, researchers had them complete a 10-minute computer task in order to assess the memory recall of their penis picks. As it was found, the women were able to recall the size of the 3-D models well. However, they were actually better at remembering the correct girth than the correct length. So, maybe length really isn’t that big of a deal after all.
“One possible explanation is that women care more about circumference, so they may attend to it more,” researchers said in the study.
While some may feel that bigger is always better, that wasn’t necessarily the case for the women in the study. In fact, many women actually associated larger penises as those more likely to be infected with STDs . So, what is the perfect one-night stand penis versus the long-term relationship one?
When it comes to casual encounters, size was definitely more important. According to the study, “Novelty itself contributes to pleasure, so seeking a more novel-sized penis may be consistent with a goal to pursue pleasure primarily in one-time partners.”
As the study suggests, women may prefer smaller penises in long-term partners for reasons such as physical comfort and a preference for less masculinity.
“Given that women typically experience more pleasurable and orgasmic sex in longer-term relationships, they might prefer a larger penis for short-term sex—partly so the increased physical sensation compensates for the reduced psychological connection,” researchers said in the study.
Earlier this year, a study conducted at Kings College London Medical School found that the average length of an erect penis is 5.17 inches with a circumference of 4.59 inches. Overall, it’s safe to say that while women tend to be happy with whatever size their partner is, they would prefer it if he were at least above average.
