Perfect 10: How Body Sculpting Can Help You

Aarzoo S Shaikh

Do you watch your favourite actress in a TV show or film and marvel at her perfectly proportioned body? There’s not a trace of fat on her, she is lithe and lovely and looks great in every article of clothing she wears. You are full of admiration for her – then you look at your own body and are filled with infinite sadness.

Don’t be disheartened. Though it seems impossible, you can also find the curves you want and get the body shape you’ve always desired. It takes some effort, but you can eventually get there. You can start by working out regularly to shed the excess fat. Alongside, maintain a healthy diet rich in proteins, carbohydrates and good fats. Intersperse with seven hours of sleep every night, meditation to lower stress and anxiety, being mindful about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and so on. Soon, you will see an improvement in your body’s fat proportion. The good news is that there are several avenues in Dubai for you to stay active and fit, from indoor workout spaces to outdoor jogging tracks and cycling arenas. You can also get a diet plan from a reputed nutritionist to correct nutritional deficiencies and fuel your body for fat loss.

And if all else fails, you can undergo a body sculpting treatment in Dubai.

What is body sculpting?

As the name suggests, it is literally a procedure that ‘sculpts’ certain areas of your body to remove excess fat and give a desirable silhouette. If you have recently gained weight and tried exercise to get rid of your love handles or wobbly arm fat, you should certainly try body sculpting in Dubai’s premium skin and body care clinics.

  • The treatment typically uses a multi-pronged approach to the problem of excess body fat. It integrates a series of sub-treatments to remove the fat and reshape the area, thus sculpting it back into shape.
  • The procedures remove problems like fluid retention, edema, hanging and loose skin, etc.
  • Typically, the procedures used include Pressure Therapy, Cryotherapy and Multipolar Radiofrequency.
  • Pressure Therapy stimulates the body’s lymphatic drainage systems to work better. It also improves the supply of oxygenated blood to the area. This helps in eliminating cellulite and body fat. You will also experience improvement in skin tone in the treated area.
  • After this, the doctor uses a treatment called ‘Cryotherapy’ to freeze the fatty tissues and cells. This effectively destroys the tissues and over time, they are eliminated from the body by lymphatic drainage.
  • In the end, the doctor finishes with Multipolar Radiofrequency. This injects tiny but powerful radio waves just under the skin to smoothen it, increase firmness, aid collagen production and reduce looseness.

Will it help me?

Yes, it will. However, your doctor must clear you for the procedure after examining your health history and any medication you may be on. If the doctor advises waiting for a certain period to complete a current course of treatment, you should. Do note that the procedure does not show results the moment it is complete. It may take up to a couple of months for you to notice any appreciable changes in the treated area.

Post-procedure, take care not poke or prod the treated area for a few days. Also skip working out or making the treated area undergo any kind of pressure, for at least three days post-procedure.

What to do after the procedure

You can go home right after the procedure is complete, but you must follow some post-procedure care. This includes:

  • Resting for the day. Steer clear of strenuous activity and stay put in bed.
  • Drink as much water as you can and refrain from having heavy, greasy meals.
  • Do not apply any cosmetics or creams to the treated area.
  • Do not take a hot shower or enter a Jacuzzi tub for 24 hours after the procedure. Ditto for swimming in the pool or the ocean, or getting massages.
  • Do not exercise for at least 48 hours after the procedure.
  • Avoid wearing clothing that is snug or tight on the treated area. Loose cotton clothing that lets the skin breathe is best.

Suppose you’re not a good candidate for the procedure…

It can happen that your doctor might decide against the body sculpting treatment for you, from a medical standpoint. You could have an underlying health issue, or elevated blood pressure, or something else that the doctor might consider a risk factor for the procedure. You could certainly get a second opinion, but it is better to err on the side of caution and not go ahead with the procedure even if another doctor says you could.

Instead, you can work on reducing body fat by means of regular exercise, moderating your food portions and leading a healthy lifestyle. Even if it has no appreciable effect on your body fat, you can still have better health and increased longevity by eating right and leading an active lifestyle. It helps to stave off lifestyle diseases like heart trouble and diabetes, even if you don’t completely succeed in reducing the fat in your body – and who knows, you just might!
