Pennsylvania tops $500 million in gaming revenue from 2021


Another record year for legalized games regulated by the Pennsylvania Game Control Board (PGCB), with sales up nearly $500 million from the previous year.


Total revenue for 2022 slot machines, table games, sports betting, iGaming, video game terminals (VGTs) and fantasy contests totaled $5,211,303,191, compared to $4,734,552,201 in 2021.


This also resulted in record-breaking results for 2022 gaming gross revenue of $2,123,015,118, compared to $1,931,219,603 in 2021. The tax revenue figures reflect the amount incurred before the PA Revenue Department adjusted.


Retail Slot Machine Earnings:

Casino's total revenue for slot machines was $2,390,757,300, up 4.51% compared to $2,287,529,465 generated in 2021.


Retail Table Game Sales:

2022 revenue through table games at casinos was $990,568,468, a 7.10% increase compared to $924,902,965 generated in 2021.


Sports Betting Earnings:

In 2022, sports betting revenue was $401,208,108, up 17.96% compared to $340,113,160 generated in 2021. Sports betting handles paid through retail and online were $7.25 billion, up 10.67% from $6.55 billion in handle in 2021.


Fantasy Contests:

2022 Fantasy Contest revenue was $22,297,399, down -23.90% compared to $29,298,635 in 2021.


iGaming Earnings:

iGaming's 2022 revenue was $1,364,392,468, up 22.60% from $1,112,855,937 generated in 2021. At the end of 2021, Pennsylvania had 10 iGaming Certificate holders.


Video Game Terminal (VGT):

Truck Stops' 2022 VGT revenue was $42,079,447, up 5.59% from $39,852,039 generated in 2021. At the end of the year, Pennsylvania had 66 VGT facilities.
