Pennsylvania hits record high in game sales


The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today reported the highest revenue achieved in a single month at $462,740,098, combined total revenue generated from all forms of games with fantasy contests during March 2022. The previous high earnings month was $432,490,129 for November 2021.


The record is a record high for two games, including:


- Retail table game that topped $90 million for the first time; and,


- Internet casino-type games that topped $110 million for the first time.


Total March revenue from slot machines was $214,721,028, up 7.74% compared to $199,290,530 generated in March 2021.


The number of slot machines in operation in March 2022 was 26,107 compared to 19,727 casinos in March 2021.


Table game sales for March 2022 were $94,280,351, a 32.12 percent increase compared to $71,358,265 in March 2021. The March sales total hit a record high so far, beating the previous record of $89,078,876 achieved in October 2021.


Online casino gaming generated total revenue of $118,118,408 in March 2022 from $97,689,743 in March 2021. Total revenue for March was the highest to date, beating the previous record of $108,310,642 achieved in January 2022.


Total sports betting handle for March 2022 was $714,976,578, 27.62% higher than total $560,259,181 in March 2021 and at the same time, taxable income for March 2022 was $30,400,581 compared to $29,352,345 in March 2021.


Video Game Terminal's (VGT) total adjusted revenue for March 2022 was $3,829,287, which was 5.16% higher than March 2021 ($3,641,470). By the end of March 2022, four VGT terminal operators were operating up to five machines allowed at 63 truck stops.


The Fantasy Contest's revenue was $1,390,443 in March 2022, down 22.71% from March 2021 when sales were $1,798,983.
