I wish to inform that I have resigned as part time director of Pedostop NGO as from today. It is a personal decision that I have taken after deep reflection, feeling I will be better able to work for children rights (alongside women rights which I already do) by being in the courtroom, as a barrister that I am, fighting the fight for justice for children and women who are victims of sexual assault. Of course I do remain loyal to the cause of speaking out and standing up for all children victims of sexual abuse. My best wishes are with the new director of Pedostop as I know that this is a very challenging position and combating child sexual abuse is a mission in itself . Thank you to Pedostop for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be able to bring my contribution to this noble cause. I will still fight for the cause, but as a legal warrior.

It's hard to believe that some of the most basic rights, which we often take for granted today, were not available to women... as recently as 4 years ago! While we continue to advance equality, the longevity of these laws and regulations make it clear that we have work to do.

I used to be intimidated by the strength of other women, until I learned to grow my own.

Transformation is messy and painful, but it's necessary to discover who you TRULY are. As women, we have inherent strength that is on reserve, waiting to be released. But first, we have to be changed by the fires of purification. And once we stand in the centre of the fire, something really beautiful happens. We emerge. The real part after the fake stuff burns. That magic is available for EVERYONE, no matter what you're currently experiencing.

I am a rape survivor, intimate partner violence survivor and survivor of a failed suicide attempt. I struggled with depression for over 20 years. I lost jobs and had to ask for help for food, groceries, and means to survive. I had three unexplained miscarriages. I walked out of two marriages. I was betrayed in the worst possible way by someone I regarded as a sister who cheated with my boyfriend and broke the news to me on my birthday eight years ago. I have lived with shame my whole life. I hated what was reflected back to me in the mirror. I hated my body and compared myself to other, more beautiful and sexier women. I had no voice, no self-worth and way too much anger at the world for the cards I was dealt.

But then, alchemy happened. I stopped, paused and paid attention. I dug deep and looked inside myself for everything I was seeking from the outside world. And transformation happened. The Phoenix rose from the ashes. And I became THIS woman: Award-winning author, international speaker, activist, lived experience expert, and most importantly, a purveyor of hope.

So before demonising yourself or hating on the world, ask an empowering question: "What is this here to teach me?" And then, be open and willing to hear the answer. With that answer comes Grace. And Grace is free and available to everyone without exception. Use my life as a template for truth, knowing that your story is never over. What feels like the end, is actually the beginning. It's time to get out of your own way.
