The campaign will feature each of the unions 12 divisions, focusing on the specific jobs the Toronto Civic Employees do and the benefits they provide to the community. On July 20, Local 416s Solid Waste members put out a concrete effort to help clear away an excess of garbage burying Etobicoke streets. A week prior, a severe storm wreaked havoc on Etobicoke flooding basements and knocking out power. The storm left residents with an excess of flood-damaged furniture, rotting food and waterlogged building materials. With the help of Torontos Solid Waste workers, the streets of Etobicoke were cleared quickly and efficiently. They did a great job, said Hewitt. I think our members really showcased how invaluable they are and how integral they are to the well-being of the community.
