The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. her latest blog of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. her latest blog was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.
For larger houses it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
