Pathways to Excellence program

British Council Uzbekistan

British Council and Avloni National Research Institute encourage you to enhance your professional development through the British Council Online Teacher Community.

The British Council Online Teacher Community (OTC) offers a new and innovative approach to support your continuous professional development. When you sign up for a program on the OTC, you will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful professional development over an extended period, supported by online communities of practice. You will be encouraged to explore new ideas, techniques, and strategies, and then, with the support of other teachers, identify what might work best in your classroom with your learners. You can create an action plan and later reflect on how it went, learning from each other's experiences. Interaction on the OTC occurs through webinars, discussion forums (where you can read and contribute ideas at a time suitable for you), and live Zoom sessions. You will need to commit to approximately 3 hours of study per week.

The Online Teacher Community in Uzbekistan is offering a Pathways to Excellence program that focuses on enhancing your teaching techniques, classroom practice, assessment, and English teaching methods. The program spans 10 weeks.

The Pathways to Excellence program covers five key topics relevant to teaching and learning English in Uzbekistan. For each of these five modules, you will study a British Council self-access Teaching for Success module, attend live webinars provided by international experts (which will localise and further develop the topic), and then, with the support of your local online community, participate in discussion forums related to the topic, as well as a live Zoom session to share and discuss ideas and their application in your teaching context. This approach ensures you have the time and support to apply new ideas to your teaching and to reflect together on their effectiveness, sharing challenges and solutions. Additionally, you will have an excellent opportunity to take an additional Assessment Literacy module, which includes 7 webinars run by UK assessment experts. All interactions will be conducted in English, and we require a minimum B1 level to make the most of this approach.

We encourage you to apply for the program, which will develop your English teaching skills. Please note that the application deadline is 31 December, 2023.
