Theme : Positioning Yourself For God's Purpose in Critical Times
Texts: Isaiah 14 : 27 / Isaiah 46 : 10
Introduction:
[ ] God has a purpose ( an intention) in every critical time
[ ] God uses critical times to his advantage
[ ] God does not live within our Times
• Our times and seasons does not affect God in anyway
• God is constant
[ ] Critical times exists
• Definition = Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English - Gives seven definitions to the word critical
1. Critizing somebody or something = making unpalatable comments
2. Important = something that is critical is very important because what happens in the future depends on it
3. Serious or worrying = a critical time or situation is serious and worrying because things might suddenly become much worse
4. Illness = so ill that the person might die
5. Making Judgements = Being careful in Judgement
6. Arts/ literature = critics who give Judgement about art, films, theatre and books.
[ ] My definition is based on the first and second definitions
[ ] Critical moments defines who God is/ His nature and character
• When Abraham was asked to offer Isaac
• = God revealed himself as THE GREAT PROVIDER = Genesis 22 : 8 ( Jehovah Jireh )
• Genesis 16 : 13 = The God who sees ( Jehovah El- Roi )= when Hagar was running away
• Genesis 17: 1 = When old age was catching up with Abraham = El - Shaddai
[ ] Critical moments manifests God's glory
[ ] But it all depends upon the following
• The obedience will express in Critical moments
• The faith we demonstrate in Critical moments
• The Sacrifices we make in Critical moments
[ ] Example:
1. The widow of Zarephath = 1 Kings 17 : 7- 24
• It was a critical time for this widow
• But God commanded her because he wanted to bless her
• She expressed obedience
• She demonstrated faith
• The word of the Lord came true
• V 24 she acknowledged Elijah as a man of God
2. The Shunamite woman = 2 Kings 4: 8 - 37 = Age was catching up with her
• She took a personal initiative = Elisha did not ask for it
[ ] The Four Ways You Give To Man/ Woman of God to be blessed
1. Giving to the office / the call on the person = Matthew 10: 40 - 41
2. Sowing into his ministry/ anointing/ grace he carries
3. Giving to him as a person
4. Giving to him as commanded.
