Again, I truly enjoyed another one of Ms Safaa's offerings. Having read A Foreign Affair(the story of Keino and Amara), I was looking forward to Ras' story and was not disappointed; Keino was HOT, but cousin Ras was HOTTER. Although, Cassandra was tough with Ras, she had to have cared for him to accept the baby the way she did. It was good to be brought up on the going ons of both families and the sharing of Ethopiian traditions was very enlightening. I know Ms Safaa has more for us as there are still two Terrell sisters left to write about and even Brad.
Let's start off by saying Chilufiya Safaa is an amazing author. This book Passionate Encounters, was an amazing book. Everything in this book was wonderful from the writing to the characters. This was the second book in the series of the Terell Sisters, as I like to call it. Not only was this book a wonderful read that I will recommend to other, but it was very educational. Do buy this book for a well written and lovely read.
If you read A foreign Affair, you'll love this one. Then comes the Art of Love - Wow! My husband actually read Passionate Encounters to me each night while we were on vacation... I highly recommend that laddies ;-) Ms. Safaa has taken the African American Romance to a higher level and she reminds us what Love SHOULD and CAN be. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
If you read a Ms. Safaa first book "A Foreign Affair" then you will really want to read "Passionate Encounters" This book will hold you interest from beginning to end. Now if thought Keino was FINE & HOT the you will want to read about Ras (Keino cousin's). I think this book is HOTTER than Ms. Safaa first book. I recommend everybody to read this book, and lets not forget about those Terrell sister they are all something else and you will not be disappointed in Cassandra. Thanks Louise
Once again, Ms. Chilufiya Safaa has pulled out all the stops! Passionate Encounters is another positive, uplifting and inspiring tale of love throughout the African Diaspora! Ms. Safaa's writing is full of delicious sensual details! Written in the format of the true classical romance novel, Passionate Encounters takes the formula and runs with it. It soothes and satisfies all of the senses while allowing the reader to peek into the cultural rituals and mores on parts of the African continent.
I am happy to say I have read both "A Foreign Affair" and "Passionate Encounters." In reading these works, I traveled to both Nairobi and Ethiopia - something I might never get a chance to do otherwise. I enjoyed the rituals in both books. Above all I like the romance. I am now waiting on the next two novels (It is going to be a long wait). It was a long wait for "Passionate Encounters." Looking forward to more reading enjoyment. Loretta, the non-computer person. Ms. Safaa has written another excellent book about two people from different parts of the world who fall in love. If you have a love for Ethiopian culture, people etc. You will love this book. It is interesting read that you can not put down.
Ethiopian businessman Ras Selassie has no intentions of becoming encumbered with a troublesome romance. He much prefers his solitude, work and occasional dalliances that have no lasting effect. Unresolved issues from his childhood have taught him that love is an emotion better left alone. Although still feeling the pain from the death of the love of her life, interior designer Cassandra Terrell is living life to the fullest and hasn't written off a possible romantic interest. When Ras and Cassandra's paths cross for the second time in PASSIONATE ENCOUNTERS, more than a few sparks pass between them. Ras and Cassandra actually met at a wedding between family members months ago; however, the brief encounter left an indelible print on each other's mind. Reunited again during a family gathering, they get a chance to know each other better. In fact, Ras offers Cassandra a job sharing his personal vision he is building for the Ethiopian children who had been left homeless due to war. Working closely together in Ethiopia, Ras and Cassandra quickly discover more than business between them. Unfortunately, what they start may come to an end quickly due to an affair that Ras thought ended months ago. Chilufiya Safaa has written an enchanting and heartwarming love story that merges two cultures while painting an extremely heartbreaking view of war-torn Ethiopia. Her writing, which flows effortlessly, gave a rich voice to customs and traditions that seemed almost fairytale like. She showed her ability to suck the reader completely in with a sweet but also sizzling romance while at the same time giving them a virtual history lesson on Ethiopia. Unfortunately for me, her grip lessened during the last 70 or so pages. She used these pages to describe in detail the observances, customs, traditions and ceremonial happenings of an Ethiopian marriage. Although a nice touch and some very sweet customs, this book ended for me once the hero and heroine had resolved their dilemma.
