Basically, tropes that have one purpose: how much skin can clothing show before it's considered indecent.

Of course the amount will vary among cultures , yet any degree is still appealing, which is one of the main reasons these tropes are so often used.

And since a lot of people find partial nudity more sexy than full nudity , this also makes many of these tropes fanservice , as well as mildly Not Safe for Work .

Female partial nudity refers to scenes from a film wherein a female character is presented as partially nude. Scenes like this may also be construed as implied nudity. It is not uncommon for actresses to use costuming techniques to give the appearance of nudity even though they may be fully clothed. It is also not uncommon for some production crews to hire body doubles to replace actresses that do not wish to appear nude in a scene.

Seriously, I've seen that printed on the back of movie & game boxes for years, and I'm no closer now to knowing what it than I was all those years ago... As near as I can figure, partial nudity means scenes that show revealing undergarments, but no actual nudity. However, I've seen some movies and wonder what the heck it is they're talking about. So, my question is, what is ESRB's idea of partial nudity, and how exactly does it appear in Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword?

And does anyone else think that it's dumb to label a game with "Partial Nudity" when it doesn't even show nipples? I thought the meaning of the word "nude" meant to be unclothed, but apparently the word takes on a whole new meaning when paired with the word "partial." Seriously, all those poor young teens who won't get to play this game because Super Mom sees the phrase, "Partial Nudity" printed on the back... But then again, how often do parents actually check the back of the box? *Sigh* I've seen many a 5 year old walking out of a store with a copy of GTA in his tiny hands...

Bah, the rating system is so primal, and is dependent on a party of individuals that has near to no capacity of understanding the video game art, such grotesque decisions really are not surprising as they should have.
So, my question is, what is ESRB's idea of partial nudity, and how exactly does it appear in Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword? nakedness: the state of being without clothing or covering of any kind wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn So partial nudity would mean "being in a partial state of without clothing or covering of any kind." Which would describe the images in the game perfectly.
