This smells fantastic for what it is but I want they captured extra than just the make-up of the dancers. I missed the absinthe note and detected possibly a touch if leather. I hoped for something louder and more complex. I think Etat Libre D'Orange's Putain de Palaces truly captures an analogous ambience and tells a story better than this does.

It stayed like this for awhile before eventually settling down to a boozy, fruity scent. This was what stayed on my pores and skin the longest . My pores and skin seemed to almost make this perfume right into a gourmand, some sort of spicy alcoholic fruit punch. I suppose this scent does evoke the Moulin Rouge, however not so much the idea of dressing rooms with dancing ladies placing on their make up. This scent is more the scent of the curtains and the viewers members with their drinks watching the show from afar. It's delicious, quaint and somewhat bit sexy.

The high notes are actually beautiful and harking back to Guerlain Meteorites powder or lipstick. Iris, but additionally violets and a contact of rose is what I scent. Mmmm, I suppose this Moulin Rouge is actually great.

I love those sort of scents, but after my initial surprise I discovered I nonetheless love this fragrance. I received the powdery iris notice once I first sprayed the fragrance, nevertheless it quickly changed to one thing spicy which I imagine was the cinnamon and wormwood.

But of the three HDP scents I've sampled recently, this is the one one I'd wear. From the outline I was expecting something rather more powdery and smelling like old make up.

It has three very distinct but somehow coherent phases - it actually does succeed in making its bold name sound nearly right, and I don't know which part I like greatest. First there's a shock of what I immediately considered "pencil shavings, however lovely", however that one other reviewer has described rather more precisely as "greasepaint and dust, the scent of backstage". This lasts for under a short while, and then in the heart there's that splendidly waxy oldfashioned lipstick scent, very powdery with prominent locations for the floral notes and especially the plum. This is a fragrance a la française to scent your can can skirts and choker with. It's a boudoir scent, seductive, unisex, a bawdy, a lot of make up/rouge, lipstick and fishnet stockings kind of scent.
