This article is about the television series. For the song by Guns N' Roses of the same name, see Paradise City .
Paradise City is an American musical drama television series created by Ash Avildsen for Amazon Prime Video . [1] It is a continuation of Avildsen's 2017 film American Satan . The series premiered on March 25, 2021. [2] A second season was announced in October. [3]

In 2019, it was reported that a spin-off based on American Satan would be created, and that musicians Andy Biersack and Remington Leith would reprise their roles in the series. [4] It also stars Bella Thorne , Ryan Hurst , and Cameron Boyce in his final role. [5] [6]

The first teaser was released on May 1, 2020. [7] A trailer for the series was released in December 2020. [2]

In an interview with TheWrap , director Avildsen stated that he hoped to begin filming the next season of the show before the end of 2021, but expressed concern over how to recast the late Boyce, who he felt was "the heartbeat for the audience." [8] [9]

Alexa Sutherland of Hollywood Insider praised the series' casting and portrayal of the rock and roll Los Angeles lifestyle. [10]

A Guns N' Roses masterpiece, usually the last song in every setlist, “Paradise City” was the sixth track for debut studio album Appetite for Destruction , and upon its single release in November 1988, reached #5 in the US and #6 in the UK. The lyrics follow a man frustrated with the big city life, combining a singalong “take me back home!” chorus with “this town is tearing me apart” verses. It’s also the only track in Appetite for Destruction featuring a synth.
The song appears as the theme song for the EA video game Burnout: Paradise , which is set in the fictional “Paradise City.”
Slash has mentioned numerous times that “Paradise City” is his favorite Guns N' Roses song. It was written by him while playing random tunes on his guitar with the rest of the band on a tour bus. The original lyric concept was very different, as Slash recalls:
‘Take me down to the Paradise City where the girls are fat and they got big titties,’ I think that was my original lyric for it and the other guys changed it. We all thought it was funny but it wasn’t going to make it on the album. I think that’s how it went.
