Sam had been looking forward to this day all year: the annual boys scouts vs girls scouts competition.
Last year in sixth grade the boys handily beat the girls at everything: tug of war, egg racing, even volleyball. They laughed the whole time, teasing the girls for losing so much... and so badly. At one point a girl named Jenny sat in pink gum, making a big sticky mess all over her white girl scout shorts. Jenny and all the other girls left sulking, crying in humiliation. Except one girl. "We'll see about next year," said Tracy, who lived down the road from Sam and hated his guts.
That was an understatement. Ever since they were kids Sam and his friends made Tracy and her little sister's lives miserable. Once on a hot day they snuck up behind them at the park, pouring a bucket of ice cubes down their shorts. Their shorts were so tight, and there was so much ice, they had no choice but to pull them down to get all the ice out. Worst of all they were both wearing plain white panties, making them not a little see-through. They didn't even both putting them back on; they ran off for home, their wet tan bottoms wiggling for all the boys to see.
It all escalated two weeks before the competition. Tracy challenged Sam's friend Jeremy to a monkey bar race, which they just found out was added to the competition this year. It was near the end of the school year and both of them were in their gym clothes. All their friends were there, about 15 boys and girls in all, including Tracy's sister, Heather, who was in 5th grade. Sam was the referee. "On your mark," he said. ("You're toast," Tracy whispered menacingly to Jeremy.) "Get set." And right then Jeremy jumped down, landed right beneath Tracy, and pulled down her shorts. Lo and behold, for poor Tracy that was the day she picked to wear her first thong. Sam screamed, much to everyone's delight. "And the front has a bunny on her privates!!!" Frozen, Tracy started crying as she saw Sam and his friends taking pictures. After nearly 30 seconds she got to her senses, jumped down and ran off with her sister and her friends. "We won't forget this!" Heather screamed.
Now Sam and Tracy went to different schools and he wasn't sure if she'd found out about the broom pantsing incident. She never said anything to him about it, or every made fun of him for having a tiny penis. The day of the competition came. The seventh-grade boys walked to the park, smiling and confident. "I wonder if we'll beat them at baking too," cracked another friend of Sam's, Elliott. The girls were already there, gathered in a circle and grimacing at them. "I'm almost scared!" said Sam.
"Hey Tracy!" shouted Jeremy. "I don't think there's a panty competition this year, but if there was you'd definitely win!" Tracy almost started crying, her friends comforting her. The boys could barely hold it together. This was gonna be a great day, they thought. The fifth-grade girl scouts, including Heather, had just lost to the fifth-grade boys, giving the boys even more confidence. "Girls can't do anything right," they laughed.
The first six contests came and went. The boys won tug of war again, rock climbing and knot-making too. But the girls won the egg race, plus apple-bobbing and volleyball. It was time for the final contest: the monkey bar race.
Each scout group had to pick one person to represent them. This was a much bigger course than the one in the park, almost three times as long. Tracy, flush with humiliation from the events of two weeks ago, insisted on racing. "Jeremy's too chicken, all he does is do mean pranks," Tracy's friend Penelope said. (Penelope herself was once the object of Sam and Jeremy's prankery, sitting on a whoopee cushion in fourth grade.) "Why doesn't Sam do it?"
Sam started laughing, as did the rest of the boys. Everyone knew Sam was great at the monkey bars. He'd never lost. "Fine by me!" he shouted.
Sam and Tracy got in position. Sam looked over with a smile but to his surprise Tracy didn't look mad, not even serious. "Good luck," she said kind of uncaringly. What's with her? Sam thought.
He tried to egg her on. "Loser has to lick the winner's smelly shoes in front of everyone." "Fine by me," said Tracy, imitating Sam's voice. Then her tone hardened. "Make it five licks."
Sam couldn't believe it. Did she really think she was gonna win this race? Suddenly it occurred to him: are they gonna get back at me? He looked around. No girls nearby. And the course was too high for Tracy to reach up and pull down his pants, even if she wanted to jump off and do what Jeremy did to her. What's she hiding?
"On your mark," went the scout leader. Sam looked over at Tracy one more time. Still calm.
"Get set..."
"Go!"
Sam took off and didn't look back. He could hear Tracy trailing him, never too far behind. But by the end of the course he could hear the boys cheering loudly. "You got this!" "Tracy doesn't stand a chance!" He knew he'd won even before he got to the end, when he looked back and saw Tracy a good 5 seconds behind him.
"Boys win!!!" shouted the boys' scout master. The boys were all cheering. They carried Sam on his shoulders, chanting "We win! Girls LOSE!" and brought him to the middle of the course. They put Sam on the ground. He took off his shirt, wiped the sweat from his face, and lifted his arms in victory.
"Well Tracy," Sam yelled snidely to her as she walked over, defeated. "Looks like someone's gotta lick, my shoes!"
"Maybe she'll wipe her mouth with her thong!" said Jeremy, making all the boys double over with laughter.
"Ok ok let's get this over with. You boys lift Sam onto the monkey bars and I'll lick his shoes from below."
The boys immediately did as Tracy said, lifting up Sam onto the monkey bars. Everyone gathered around. The boys looked especially eager, taking their phones out to get video proof of Tracy licking her mortal's enemy's gym shoes! Sam noticed some of the girls taking their phones out to, to his surprise.
He looked down, then off to his friend. "Ok Tracy, do your worst!"
Tracy walked beside his dangling feet. Suddenly, her eyes beamed. "DON'T MIND IF I DO!"

Shirtless Sam, in front of no fewer than 50 boys and girls 5th through 8th grade, felt his mesh shorts and silky boxer shorts get ripped off in one fell swoop.
There Sam was, dangling in public. Butt naked. For everyone to see.
First there was silence. All eyes stared at this pale, lanky boy in just his shoes and socks, unable to cover his shame. No one could believe what they were seeing, in part because... they could barely see it. Tracy, meanwhile, just watched the whole thing, the widest grin a girl could ever had, letting her friends do all the recording. She wanted to savor the moment. "This isn't the end Sam!" she shouted. "Wait til you see what we have in store for you this summer! Get used to being NAKED!!!"
That was the last thing Sam heard as he ran off and away from all the mocking eyes and tongues. How could it possibly get worse than this? And worst of all, where else will he be seen naked??
