By downloading, installing, or using StormHarbor Tales, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. ABOUT THE APP
StormHarbor Tales is an educational maritime application that provides:
- Maritime encyclopedia content
- Ocean-themed quizzes
- Storm calculation utilities
- A harbor navigation mini-game
- Local progress and statistics tracking

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The App stores the following information locally on your device using an on-device SQLite database:
- Quiz title
- Number of questions in a quiz
- Number of correct answers
- Quiz completion date and time
- Quiz score percentage
This information is used only to display your quiz history, statistics, and progress inside the App.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, account credentials, payment information, precise location, contacts, photos, microphone data, or other personal identifiers.
2.2 Information Collected Through Internet Access
The App requires an internet connection for certain features, including:
- Loading an initial web page at launch through an in-app WebView
- Opening external links in an in-app browser (Custom Tabs) when redirected to another website
- Displaying policy-related pages when applicable
When you use these features, the visited website or third-party service may collect information according to its own privacy policy. We do not control how third-party websites collect, use, or share data.
The App itself does not send your quiz results or local app data to our servers because the App does not operate backend servers for user data storage.
2.3 Automatically Collected Technical Information
The App may process limited technical information necessary for normal operation, such as:
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- Basic network connectivity status
This information is used only to provide app functionality and is not used by us for advertising or cross-app tracking.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use collected information only for the following purposes:
- Saving and displaying your quiz results and statistics
- Providing app features and improving user experience
- Enabling web-based launch and redirect flows
- Maintaining app performance and stability
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
4. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
Quiz results and statistics are stored locally on your device in the file:
stormharbor_tales.db
Data remains on your device until:
- You clear app data
- You uninstall the App
- You reset your device
We do not maintain remote copies of your quiz history.
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App may interact with third-party services, including:
- ashenvalley.com and other websites opened through WebView or in-app browser tabs
- Google Fonts (fonts are bundled in the App for offline use)
- Android system browser components used for Custom Tabs
Third-party websites and services have their own privacy policies and data practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external website you visit through the App.
6. PERMISSIONS
The App may request or use the following permission:
- INTERNET: required to load web content and open external links in an in-app browser
The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, calendar, or precise location.
7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
StormHarbor Tales is intended for a general audience. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party website accessed from the App, please contact us and we will assist with any applicable concerns.
8. DATA SECURITY
We take reasonable measures to protect information stored within the App. Because quiz data is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, including screen lock and operating system protections.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
You may:
- Stop using the App at any time
- Delete locally stored data by clearing app storage in your device settings
- Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored app data
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights regarding personal data under applicable privacy laws.
10. INTERNATIONAL USERS
If you use the App from outside your home country, your information may be processed according to the laws of the country where you use the App and the country where third-party websites operate.
11. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
