INTRODUCTION OF PERICO

Perico is a card game for 2 – 6 players created by Steven Metzger. Much like in Thirty One, players will take turns drawing and discarding while trying to build the best hand possible. In Perico, however, players are trying to build the best poker hand. Once a player is happy with their hand, they can knock to signal the end of the round. Each player gets one more turn, and the hands are shown. The player with the highest ranking poker hand wins the round. The first player to win five rounds wins the game. There are some rule variations that can be found here.

THE CARDS & THE DEAL

Perico requires the use of a 52 card deck and two Jokers. Shuffle and deal 5 cards to each player. Place the rest of the cards face down to form the stock. Turn one card over to begin the discard pile. The winner of the round deals next.

In this game, Aces can be used high or low. They cannot be used to go around the corner, so a straight like Q,K,A,2,3 is not possible.

THE PLAY

The game begins with the player left of the dealer. A player’s turn consists of two phases: draw and discard.

DRAW

A player begins their turn by drawing the top card from the stock or drawing from the discard pile. If a player draws from the 메이저토토 pile, they may take up to five cards.

DISCARD

If the player draws from the stock, they discard one card from their hand. If the player draws from the discard pile, they must discard an equal amount of different cards. For example, drawing five cards means they must discard five different cards. They may discard these in any order.

ENDING THE ROUND

Once there are at least five cards in the discard pile, a player can end the round by knocking. A player cannot knock after drawing. Once a player knocks, their turn is over. Each non-knocking player gets one more turn before the round ends.

The moment a player gets a Royal Flush or a Five of a Kind, the round ends immediately, and that player is the winner. A player who has a Royal Flush or a Five of a Kind and continues to play automatically loses.

JOKERS

Jokers are wild. They can represent any card needed to complete the hand. When a Joker is discarded on top of the discard pile, the stock and discard pile are shuffled back together. A new card is turned up to begin the discard pile.

SCORING

At the end of the round, the player with the highest ranking hand wins. Standard poker hands are used. In the event of a tie, the player with fewer Jokers wins. If there is still a tie, the player with the highest ranking high card in their hand wins.

WINNING

The first player to earn 5 points wins the game.
