Aleksandra Zaryanova is one of the world's strongest women, a celebrated athlete who sacrificed personal glory to protect her family, friends, and country in a time of war.
Aleksandra was born in a remote Siberian village that was on the front lines of the Omnic Crisis, which began some thirty years ago. Although Russian forces defeated the robots and shut down their omnium, the region was devastated by the conflict. Only a child at the time, Aleksandra was surrounded by the post-war destruction, and as she grew older, she swore that she would gain the strength to help her people recover.
Focusing on weightlifting and bodybuilding, Aleksandra was identified by the national athletics program as a potential star. She trained extensively, moving up the ranks while representing her country, and was expected to shatter longstanding records in the upcoming world championships.
But on the eve of the tournament, an attack came from the long-dormant Siberian omnium, and her village was thrust into war once again. Aleksandra immediately withdrew from the competition and rushed home to enlist in the local defense forces, sacrificing the life of fame and fortune she might have had.
Now she serves—a symbol to some, a stalwart fellow soldier to others. But for Aleksandra, it is a chance to use her great strength to protect the ones she loves.

Zarya is tank in Overwatch that can place barriers on herself and allies. She is also one of the most helpful teammates because of her ultimate that pulls enemies together in one area. If there is a Zarya playing, chances are you'll see her in the play of the game, just not the hero who got it.
If you want to be a selfless help to your team, and like particle beams, Zarya is the one for you. I'll go over some info so you can get to know her better, as well as some tips on playing her most effectively.
Zarya's full name is Aleksandra Zaryanova, and she grew up in a Siberian village that was on the front lines of war during the Omnic Crisis. The Russians prevailed, but Zarya grew up in a war-torn area afterwards. Zarya decided as she began to get older that she would grow strong to help her village.
Zarya focused on weightlifting and bodybuilding, which caught the eye of her country's athletic program. She had become one of the strongest women in the world and was expected to set records and represent her country in the world championships.
This didn't happen, as conflict erupted in her home once again when the Siberian Omnium attacked. She immediately went home to enlist in the local defense force to protect others. Just like when you play as her in the game, she gave up her chance at fame so that others could prevail.
Zarya is a tank, which means her main job is to take damage, distract the enemy, and protect the team.

Particle Cannon (Alternate): Zarya lobs an explosive charge to strike multiple opponents. Energy level increases explosion radius
Particle Barrier: The Particle Cannon can emit a personal barrier that shields Zarya against incoming attacks, redirecting their energy to enhance her weapon’s damage and the width of its beam.
Projected Barrier: Zarya surrounds one of her teammates with an energy barrier that simultaneously absorbs fire and boosts the power of her Particle Cannon.
Graviton Surge: Zarya launches a gravity bomb that draws in enemy combatants and deals damage while they’re trapped.
Energy: Damage blocked increases Particle Cannon damage. Energy increases the damage of both firing modes, but does not increase the damage of Graviton Surge.
