Blizzard Some of Echo’s early abilities may have made the character even more powerful.
One part of his Genji’s ever-changing kit in Overwatch that has remained untouched is Dragon Blade, and countering the ability can be the difference between winning and losing matches.
Genji has been one of the strongest Heros in Overwatch for some time now, especially after receiving a series of buffs before being toned down a bit . However, one area of focus with him remains to be the Dragon Blade, which hasn’t been patched.
While he only has 200 HP when using Dragon Blade, Genji can output a lot of damage, especially with the Dash resets he gets after every elimination. As such, being able to trap the Hero – even literally – can be the best tool to combat the power of Dragon Blade, which is now charging a bit faster with the buffs to his damage.
Overwatch streamer FilthyFaux demonstrated how to keep him at bay and straight-up deny the powerful ability any value during a match on King’s Row.
The Junkrat player knew the Genji had his Ultimate online and predicted that he would go straight for the Ana player and try to eliminate her first.
By putting a trap on the ground and having Ana stand on top of it, he would likely Dash directly into it as he went to attack her.
“He’s going to fly right into this trap,” the streamer smugly said, as right on schedule, that was exactly what happened and the cyborg Shimada was swiftly dealt with by a Concussion Mine.
Another possible trick with the trap comes from Overwatch League MVP candidate Jae-hyeok ‘Carpe’ Lee. By standing directly on his own trap, even though he ended up dying to the Genji, the enemy got stuck and ended up dying to the Total Mayhem passive.
This trick is especially important to keep in mind if you ever find yourself up against a Nano Genji. Being able to trap the Hero while he’s Nano Boosted and using Blade will result in a double Ultimate counter with a single Overwatch ability.
So, the next time a Genji is giving you trouble, try and see if you can use his aggressiveness against him with some traps.
One artistically talented Overwatch fan has rendered and animated a brand-new ability for Echo based on early Blizzard concept art for the hero.
Echo was the last new hero to be introduced until Overwatch 2, and she’s definitely popular thanks to the massive amount of firepower she’s packing.
Not satisfied with her current loadout though, 3D animator and Overwatch fan @Jupiiit decided to flesh out the idea from early Blizzard ideas that had her using her two back wings like boomerangs.
There apparently were a few abilities that used the Omnic’s wings as projectiles, that would return after they went out and dealt damage. The downside of them just being on paper though is we’ve never got to see them in action, until now.
Jupit posted a super-clean animation on January 31 that shows a first-person perspective of Echo throwing out her wings as boomerangs then returning to her, dealing damage along the way.
If Echo’s wings had been given more functionality with a damage ability, it wouldn’t be hard to see it looking pretty similar to this. Maybe to keep it from being OP the comeback damage would only happen if enemies are in a certain range between Echo and the initial target.
How much damage they would or should do is also up for debate, but there’s no denying it would be a completely unique move in Overwatch.

Also, there’s nothing to say we couldn’t see Echo get something like this when Overwatch 2 comes out, which will have new and upgradeable moves for every hero.
As an added bonus, if it were in the sequel’s new PvE mode, it wouldn’t need to be as tightly balanced as it would if it were put in for PvP, since we’d be fighting NPCs and not other players.
Overwatch fans have clearly begun taking new content matters into their own hands, which is understandable with no real updates or news on Overwatch 2 since it was announced in 2019. Thankfully BlizzCon 2021 is right on the horizon, and the promise of the big sequel news we’ve all been waiting for.

Yes, yes it is. Why the hell do people stack up their units so close to each other? Also, rookies are such bad shots I find full cover is more helpful than a higher vantage point a lot of times, but I have yet to play legendary.
If you want to go further back, this here is an actual classic.
Some bad luck, sure, but also bad play. You don't put everyone on overwatch then activate a pod, essentially because this kind of thing can happen. Your troopers all split their shots up, none of the aliens die, and then you're just letting the aliens have a full move against you. Even if the grenade didn't happen, this was probably at least 2 troopers dead.
I clicked totally expecting it to be exactly that video. Truly a classic

Geoff is fantastic and while I root for him I also love seeing this stuff happen on occasion.

Full overwatch on a building on a group with a robot in it. Last guy opens fire, pod activates, pew pew ensues, then it's the ayy's turn, robot shoots grenade into my guys on the roof, BOOM everybody falls to their deaths.
