When you enter a game of Overwatch, you'll need to choose a hero to play.Maybe a cannon-toting ape from the moon appeals to you. Perhaps you prefer a time-traveling freedom fighter. Or is a beat-dropping battlefield DJ more your style? Whoever you want to be, there's an Overwatch hero for you.
Imagination is the Essence of Discovery
A random selection of customization options come packaged in Loot Boxes—you’ll unlock one box every time you level up, and can purchase more in the in-game Shop. Loot Boxes have a chance to contain credits that you can use to acquire many customization options. You’ll also receive a new Portrait Frame every 10 levels (until you’ve earned them all).
When you accomplish a feat of persistence or talent, you’ll unlock a commemorative badge of honor. You can view a detailed breakdown of your achievements and trophies (along with your experience level and play style) and share them with your friends from the Career Overview pane of the main menu (or the top menu of this website).

Overwatch is a colorful team-based shooter game starring a diverse cast of powerful heroes. Travel the world, build a team, and contest objectives in exhilarating 6v6 combat.
Tank heroes soak damage and shatter fortified positions, like closely grouped enemies and narrow chokepoints. If you’re a tank, you lead the charge.
Damage heroes seek out, engage, and obliterate the enemy with wide-ranging tools, abilities and play styles. Fearsome but fragile, these heroes require backup to survive.
Support heroes empower their allies by healing, shielding, boosting damage, and disabling foes. As a support, you’re the backbone of your team’s survival.
There are many ways to play Overwatch. We recommend starting with the tutorial to learn the fundamentals of play; once you’ve completed it, head to the Main Menu to try out:
Visit a training area and experiment with your abilities against practice bots. Use this mode to hone your skills or learn a new hero.
Play against AI-controlled opponents on any map you choose. Use these modes to try out different maps and learn how multiple heroes work.
Square off against other players at your skill level.
Experimental matches with unique and seasonal rules, plus weekly rewards! Read more
Compete against other players and work your way up the ranks.
Change the rules of the game with custom modifiers (like disallowing heroes, increasing Ultimate ability charge rate, etc.).
Build elaborate custom games in the Workshop, with unprecedented scripting tools at your disposal. Set the rules, build a game, and share it with the community!
Customize rules, events, conditions, and actions to build entire new game modes.
Explore Workshop creations in the game browser and use them as inspiration for your own!
Save your creations and share them with other players through the custom game browser.
We see amazing players in Overwatch every day; now, you can officially celebrate them! When a match ends, take a look at players on both teams and endorse the players who made positive contributions to your matches. The world needs heroes: help create them!
Earn Shot Caller endorsements by leading or executing strategies on the battlefield.
Reward highly effective team players with a Good Teammate endorsement.
Grant Sportsmanship endorsements to players who are a positive influence in-game.
All players begin at endorsement level 1 and can progress to a max level of 5; every endorsement you receive impacts your endorsement levels. You will also receive a small amount of player experience for endorsing another player. Higher endorsement levels can help you get better groups in the Looking for Group tool.
Your endorsement level can decrease if you do not continue to receive endorsements or leave games before they’re finished. Punishments within the reporting system may also strip players of their endorsement level and place them at level 0.
You can occasionally earn Loot Boxes based on your current endorsement level, with higher endorsement levels resulting in more Loot Boxes. During special events, you'll receive event Loot Boxes (for example, Summer Games Loot Boxes).
As you play games of Overwatch, you’ll gain levels, unlocking new customization options to make your heroes look and sound unique! Customize your characters in the Hero Gallery (accessible from the main menu).
Play your way using the Looking for Group tool! You can control your gameplay experience by hosting a group with custom options, including restricting endorsement level, prior to queueing up for Quick Play, Play vs AI, or any competitive mode. Choose to join a team of like-minded people or assemble your own.

Knowledge players of overwatch, what’s the difference between Legendary edition and Origins? Also, is there a standard, regular version I can buy?
In the first year, there were 3 editions:
Standard: only available digitally and on PC. Cheaper than full price game.
Origin: available for PC and console, both digitally and physically. It is like Standard edition + 5 Origin skins + bonuses for Blizzard games.
Collector's: available for PC and console, physically only. Limited in number. It's like Origin edition + a statue + art book + post cards + OST CD.
In the second year, they removed Origin edition and replaced it with Game of the Year edition. It's like Origin edition + 10 Boxes. It's available for PC and console, both digitally and physically.
In the third year, they removed GotY edition and replaced it with Legendary edition. It's like Origin edition + 10 skins. It's available for PC and console, both digitally and physically.
You can only buy Standard version on BattleNet for PC. Blizzard is an independent company and they have their own store. It is not connected with Steam or Microsoft store.
So basically GOTY is legendary with just a different name?
So the difference is not at all in unlocking champions or something else? is it really just teh aesthetics?
Skins. Origins comes with the origins exclusive skins that can't be unlocked. Legendary comes with a few other skins + origins skins. There is also a base game with no free skins
Where is the base game? I can’t find it on the Microsoft store.
why is there also just legendary edition on Xbox store like i want to play overwatch but i dont want to pay £49.99 for a game
I purchased the legendary edition on ps4 but got the origins when I downloaded it. Have i got the wrong game?
No. With the legendary edition you also get the origin skins plus others.
