Overwatch Roadhog
Biography

Roadhog, Age: 48

Occupation: Enforcer (formerly), Bodyguard

Base of Operations: Junkertown, Australia (formerly)

Affiliation: Junkers (formerly)
Roadhog uses his signature Chain Hook to pull his enemies close before shredding them with blasts from his Scrap Gun. He’s hardy enough to withstand tremendous damage, and can recover his health with a short breather.
Heal yourself and reduce damage taken over a short time.
Damage and knock back enemies in front of you.
Roadhog is a ruthless killer with a well-earned reputation for cruelty and wanton destruction.
After the Omnic Crisis, government officials gifted the Australian omnium and the surrounding area to the omnics that had nearly destroyed their country, hoping to establish a long-term peace accord. This arrangement permanently displaced Mako Rutledge and a large number of the Outback's residents, a scattered collection of survivalists, solar farmers, and people who just wanted to be left alone.
Furious over the loss of their homes, Mako and others turned to violent rebellion. They formed the Australian Liberation Front and struck against the omnium and its robot population to take back the lands that had been stolen. Events continued to escalate until the rebels sabotaged the omnium's fusion core, resulting in an explosion that destroyed the facility, irradiated the region, and littered the Outback with twisted metal and wreckage for kilometers around.
Mako watched as his home became an apocalyptic wasteland, and he was forever changed.
Adapting to his environment, he donned a mask and took to the broken highways of the Outback on his ramshackle chopper. Little by little, his humanity was forgotten. The last vestiges of Mako faded away and the ruthless killer Roadhog was born.

From what I have seen of Roadhog in action, I can't buy into Roadhog being a ruthless killer/murderer considering evidence suggesting he is Junkrat's surrogate father. My minions have dredged up information from the depths of internet hell and so much more, Twitch livestreams and YouTube videos long since gone, or so old no one cares, creator/animator accounts, earlier Blizzard accounts, roleplayers, a stingy Homestucker, and someone who carries a Widowmaker body pillow around, and earlier Roadhog lines that were deleted shortly after they were released, (Suspicious Blizzard!), personal observations, and hacking a fired animators account. My head minion put up with more than the Little People in Cirque du Freak! Audio clips from Mako strung together in the correct order and context make what seems to be a proud, near-fatherly speech from a surrogate father to a son who has done so much. Who is that son, you ask? Junkrat, or Jamison Fawkes. Think about it. Inter-character interactions, jokes, Junkrat's personality, Roadhog's behavior, dialog interactions, even the way their ages line up: Mako Rutledge is 48 years of age. Jamison Fawkes is 24 years of age. Literally half of Mako's age. Again I am going to ask you to use your wonderful beautifully built brains to think about this: Mako, fresh from the explosion that rocked Australia and changed everything, comes back to Junkertown, finds a little boy, orphaned, angry, and looking to belong, possibly mocked and made fun of for having no parents, and in Jamison, sees a portion of himself, and in spite of having lost everything, in spite of a deep-seated fear Jamison will die like everyone else, he takes Jamison in. He treats him like a son. He grows to love him as if he were his son. Flash-forward to today. The behavior between the two is still screaming a father-son relationship. That's not even the big bombshell. That was just the warm up. Due to shocking evidence my head minion dredged up, Mako may have been a family man, a wife and kids. In a small short, Jamison asks, "Ey, Roadhog, did ya ever have kids? If so, what was it like?" Roadhog pauses for a minute, and says, "It was... Fulfilling." Roadhog has made jokes about kids, even going so far as to say, "Even when kids are just leaving to walk, if you're taking care of five others, they can still outrun you. Just a fair warning." In an early interaction , Junkrat says, "Aren't anklebiters cute?" Talking about D. Va, D. Vs shouts, "Hey! I'm 21!" Roadhog whispers, "Not at 3 a.m. when there's nightmares or diapers to deal with." And so, with all this information laid at your feet, it up to you, the devoted fan and the kind reader, to decide what you believe. Is Mako Rutledge, the man behind the mask, the murderer you see on the surface? Or is there more to this masked man than a hook and a gun? That's up to you to decide.

While Sojourn has been the focus of Overwatch 2’s latest trailers, eagle-eyed fans have pointed out a change in appearance for Roadhog.
Overwatch 2 is bringing several new things to the table, ranging from a full PvE campaign to a massive switch to 5v5 gameplay for PvP. Overwatch 2 will also see new character designs for each hero, and the latest one revealed is for Roadhog - though fans have only gotten a very brief look at it.
This split second showing of Roadhog’s Overwatch 2 redesign is a far cry from how the others have been revealed, as Blizzard has hyped up the other new looks quite a bit. Fans have gotten a chance to see proper comparison videos that showcase the visual changes being made to heroes like Lucio, Widowmaker, and Mei. While Roadhog may eventually get his own social media post that provides a good look at his new aesthetic, fans can get a brief glimpse of it in one of the new Overwatch 2 trailers.
As pointed out by Dexerto, the deep dive video for Sojourn features the hero sliding under Roadhog’s hook and leaping over the Tank’s head. If players pause and take a look at the bulky hero when he appears at the 5:37 mark, they should be able to notice some significant changes to his appearance. For starters, his hook is a bit less metallic, swapping out the silver with a black design that has some brownish accents in the ridges of the chain. As for the hero himself, the changes are minor but plentiful.
The new version of Roadhog dons a torn-up jacket, and while his stomach is still on full display, he sports a bit more clothing on his upper half. This jacket also seems to have a fur collar and a piece of red shoulder armor. This red accent is seen on Roadhog’s Scrap Gun as well, as the barrel is lined with the color red. While a yellow canister can still be seen on Roadhog’s back, the character seems to be leaning into a black, grey, and red color scheme this time around. Intriguingly, it looks like he has a mohawk as well.
Perhaps Blizzard will provide a better look at this redesign soon, as many would surely like a better view of the changes Roadhog is undergoing in Overwatch 2 . With Sojourn being focused upon closely as of late, perhaps Blizzard does not want her spotlight to be taken by highlighting redesigns for existing characters. Regardless, those interested in getting a quick glimpse at Roadhog can go to 5:37 in the Sojourn Developer Update, adjusting the playback speed to get the clearest possible look at the hero’s new outfit.
Based on what can be seen in the few frames of gameplay, this redesign will likely be a lot less controversial than Overwatch 2 ’s Cassidy makeover . After all, this model for Roadhog is much like the original, with some new colors, a mohawk, and a torn jacket serving as the biggest adjustments.
Overwatch 2 is currently in development for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
